At SIFLOOP Hub, organic waste that would otherwise pollute our environment is transformed by Black Soldier Fly larvae into natural fertilizer that nourishes the soil and helps grow healthy food.

From waste...
To soil...
To food.

This World Environment Day, we are reminded that protecting our environment doesn't always require complex solutions. Sometimes, it starts by seeing value where others see waste.

Behind every bucket of water fetched, every farm prepared, and every load carried home, there is often a donkey quietly making life easier for families and communities. 🫏❤️

In Mwashoti, we had the privilege of sitting down with donkey owners to talk about animal welfare and the important role these hardworking animals play in everyday life. What stood out most was the shared understanding that donkeys are not “just animals”, they are companions in livelihood, deserving of care, kindness, rest, and respect, just like humans and other animals.

It was deeply inspiring to hear the owners share their experiences, perspectives, and the thoughtful ways they look after their donkeys despite daily challenges. Their stories reminded us that compassion begins with recognizing the value of every life that supports our communities.

Sometimes, the most overlooked animals carry the heaviest burdens. Today, we celebrate the donkeys of Mwashoti and the people who choose to care for them with dignity and love. 🌍✨

Last Friday, we paused everything to honour one of the most hardworking, most overlooked souls on the farm, the donkey.
While we celebrate other animals, the donkey quietly shows up every single day. Carrying water. Hauling feed for other animals. Asking for nothing in return. No applause, no recognition, just pure, unwavering dedication.

𝑆𝑜 𝑤𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑖𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢.

We headed to Kajire and gave our donkeys the care they truly deserve, a full clinic and deworming exercise, because a healthy donkey is a happy donkey. And because our donkeys live alongside dogs, we went the extra mile and administered rabies vaccines to both, protecting them all from a deadly disease.
Because every life in our care matters, even the ones who serve in silence.

We were honored to participate in the 2026 SDG Investment Fair at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Fair convened governments, investors, and development partners to showcase investment-ready projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, with a strong focus on climate resilience, water resource management, sustainable infrastructure, and inclusive growth.

For us, this engagement was a significant learning opportunity. It provided valuable insights into how community-driven development initiatives can be structured into bankable and scalable investments within global financing frameworks.

This comes at a strategic moment for our organization, following the addition of a new Board Member with expertise in Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs). The exposure gained has strengthened our institutional capacity, particularly in understanding how PPP models can be leveraged to mobilize sustainable financing and deliver long-term impact.

This participation positions MAZIDO Internationa as a key voice in global investment conversations and reinforces our commitment to continuous learning, strategic partnerships, and scaling sustainable development solutions.

Linet brings over three decades of public service, governance, and community leadership to the MAZIDO Board. A seasoned administrator and strategic leader, she holds an MBA in Strategic Management (University of Nairobi) and is a PhD candidate in Strategic Management at JKUAT.

Her distinguished career spans roles as County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Administration and Devolution at Taita Taveta County Government, Member of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), and Ag. Assistant Town Clerk at Mombasa County, among many others. A proud daughter of Taita Taveta and a tireless champion of community empowerment, Linet's deep roots in our region make her an invaluable voice at the governance table.

👏 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞, 𝐌𝐫. Johnson Mwawasi, 𝐄𝐍𝐕 𝐒𝐏!

Johnson is a renowned infrastructure project finance and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) expert with 12 years of experience spanning PPP advisory, feasibility studies, and project finance across Africa. As Founder & CEO of Miundo Misingi Hub (Infrastructure Hub), he has led landmark projects including the Njoro Kubwa Bulk Water PPP Project right here in Taita Taveta County, a $1.1M project that will transform water access for our communities.

Johnson holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Project Finance (PPPs) from Middlesex University London, a Bachelor of Commerce, First Class Honours from Strathmore University, and is a certified Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP). He is also a Board Director at Taita-Taveta Investment and Development Corporation (TTIDC), Chair of the Finance Chapter at the World Association of PPP Units & Professionals (WAPPP), and an Adjunct Lecturer at Strathmore Business School.

His expertise in structuring PPP transactions, infrastructure finance, and sustainability will be transformative for MAZIDO's 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.

At MAZIDO, we believe that strong governance is the foundation of lasting community impact. With Linet and Johnson joining our Board, we are better positioned than ever to deliver on our One Welfare approach, building resilient communities in Kenya's Arid and Semi-Arid Lands.

Together, we are working to keep both our donkeys and our communities safe by eliminating rabies, an effort that can only be achieved through consistent anti-rabies vaccination.
