Today, through our able Chairman Mr. Idris M. Omar, received a wonderful donation of tree seedlings from the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for our community tree nursery. These seedlings were generously donated by Angela Sheldrick, CEO of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and we are truly grateful for her support.

We also wish to thank Mr. Sam, Community Liaison, for delivering the seedlings and strengthening this great partnership.

These tree seedlings will be planted and distributed free of charge to the community during this ongoing rainy season, as part of our commitment to restore and protect our environment.

Thank you. πŸ™

Yesterday, at Mwanyambo Primary School in Taita Taveta, we joined the whole country to celebrate Environment Day. As Save Our Environment CBO, we were happy to be part of this special event organized by the State Department of Labour and Skills Development, led by PS Shadrack Mwadime. He talked about how important it is to plant and take care of trees, especially fruit trees that help our communities and economy. He also explained the NYOTA Programme by President William Ruto, which helps young people aged 18 to 29 get training, jobs, and money to start projects.

Hon. Lydia Haika, Woman Representative for Taita Taveta, also spoke. She said tree planting is good for protecting the environment and helping people have more food. She encouraged young people to use the NYOTA Programme to learn skills and create opportunities for themselves.

Together, we planted 300 Fruit tree seedlings at the school and also distributed 1,000 more seedlings for everyone to take home and plant in their own places. Everyone was encouraged to take care of their seedlings and water them so that the trees can grow well and help our environment.

We were also joined by County Commissioner Madam Onunga, Deputy Governor Hon. Christine Kilalo, Voi DCC Mr. Mugo, CECM Environment Hon. Granton Mwandawiro, the Subcounty Education Officer, Mwanahmbu Principal, and teachers.

I was happy to thank everyone who came to support and take part in this activity. We are planting for a better future. Our environment is our treasureβ€”let’s take care of it together for ourselves and the next generation.
