At Go Green Ganze Initiative we don't end at tree planting activities we monitor to check their progress and this helps in bettering our next tree planting initiatives to achieve a higher survival rate.

We recently visited Bogamachuko and Dida Schools where we planted trees in March -April to check their progress. We found out that at Bogamachuko the survival rate is at 90% while at Dida the survival rate was way below 50% because the school doesn't have a fence and the trees were being grazed by animals from the neighborhood.

With these findings they help us to know which species to take and plant in Dida.

Climate change in Ganze is no longer a distant threat it is a lived reality. Smallholder farmers continue to lose crops due to unpredictable rainfall patterns, making rain-fed agriculture increasingly unreliable. This threatens their livelihoods, pushing many households into food and nutrition insecurity, poverty, and unemployment. The image below captures a glimpse of this harsh reality.

Through our livelihood program, we are doing our best with the limited resources available to support vulnerable farming communities. We empower smallholder farmers with knowledge and skills in climate-smart agriculture, promoting resilient livelihood options such as goat farming, the cultivation of drought-tolerant crops like cassava and pigeon peas, and the adoption of fast-maturing crops such as cowpeas and green grams.

By equipping farmers with sustainable and climate-resilient practices, we are helping communities adapt to the impacts of climate change while strengthening food security and improving livelihoods. These are current photos due to the failure of March-April-May rains.

Climate change is everyone's responsibility. We invite individuals, organizations, development partners, and government agencies to join us in building resilient communities in Ganze. Together with EDU-Initiative Kenya , Youth for Sustainable Development-Kilifi County , Dada among other passionate community developers participated in the Climate Fresk workshop facilitated by Rhune Van a climate activist at Relatives in Kilifi County. The workshop broke down the complex climate jargons to simple, eye opening, engaging and easy to understand whether you are an expert or not.

Through the workshop we were reminded the simple steps we can take at individual levels to influence the environmentaI and climate change we want through understanding the environment status, climate change that is locally relevant, share with others to make them understand it, take the simple steps in contributing to positive environmentaI changes, look for empowerment by finding partners who are in this space and collaborate with them to scale up the impacts.
