Something new is coming for our Code Clubs! All Code Clubs trained by Futures Infinite are invited to a virtual meeting on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026 at 7:30pm, where we will be introducing an important program alignment between STEAMLabs Africa and Futures Infinite for educators in the Western region.

During this session, we will walk Code Club leaders through the upcoming merge of STEAMLabs Africa and Futures Infinite and explain how this will improve support, collaboration and program delivery going forward.

The meeting will be virtual via the Microsoft Teams and can be joined by visiting the following link:

Consistent support is the key to a successful Code Club. This week, we met with Code Club leaders from across western Kenya to cover our Term 2 Scratch Coding Challenge and introduce the integration of machine learning into Scratch. Scratch is a beginner-friendly coding platform that allows students to explore coding concepts in a visually-engaging way. When teachers are regularly shown how to complete projects, they are more confident to teach projects to their students.

On Thursday, our Learning Lead MALIK LOGONZE and Program Intern Mike Oreni joined an onboarding session for new Kenyan partner organisations under the Raspberry Pi Foundation. Mike showed the new partners how to download Scratch and gave an introduction to the Scratch platform. Later, Malik took the partners through a Scratch project called Space Talk.

Scratch is a beginner-friendly coding software designed for kids and teens who are interested in learning about computer programming. It uses a drag-and-drop method to make learning about coding accessible for all types of learners. Once onboarded, new partners will train teachers how to use Scratch and will help them set up Code Clubs. In these Code Clubs, students are given a safe and welcoming space to explore coding and use their creativity to code their own animations and games.

Futures Infinite is honoured to be part of this onboarding process and help bridge the digital divide in Kenya.

We want to take a moment to highlight one of our stellar Code Clubs at St. Luke's Boys' High School in Bungoma County! Last weekend, Code Club members took part in the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge in Nairobi and were the top performers in the robotics competition. The club is guided by Code Club leader Fredrick Sunguti, who has built up this club to help the students compete nationally. Dedicated Code Club leaders like Mr. Sunguti make Code Clubs great! Our Programs Lead, Margaret Koulen, also attended the event as a panelist and robotics judge. Representation from Futures Infinite came through a partnership with STEAM Interactive Global to expand reach and bring similar robotics competitions to Western Kenya.

Proud moment for Futures Infinite as our Programs Lead, Margaret Koulen, served as one of the presiding judges at the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Kenya National Event held yesterday at the University of Nairobi.

Convened by Interactive Global, the event brought together outstanding educators and young innovators from across Kenya to showcase creativity, problem-solving, and the transformative power of robotics and AI education.

We celebrate Margaret’s leadership and contribution toward nurturing the next generation of digital and STEM talent in Kenya. 🚀

Over the past two days, we had the pleasure of visiting Code Clubs at Kisumu Girls' High School, Oyiengo Comprehensive School and Kisangula Senior School. Regular monitoring and evaluation is the key to ensuring every learner in our Code Clubs has access to computer science resources. Staff from Futures Infinite were joined by Gilbert Otieno, the Program Manager at the Raspberry Pi Foundation for these Code Club visits. His valuable insights and observations will help guide us as we continue supporting our Code Clubs across Western Kenya. What did students learn at our coding, robotics and AI camp last month? Hear from a few of them as they describe the camp in their own words. Coding camps and clubs help bridge the digital divide and make computer science accessible to all students. You can learn more about our student-centred mission here: https://lnkd.in/d24A3Vfm.

Last week, we wrapped up a three-day Scratch webinar with teachers from Nyamira and Kisii counties. Participants started with the basics by learning how to download Scratch, then explored the platform and some example projects with our lead facilitators.

Scratch is a beginner coding platform that teaches students the building blocks of coding in a fun and visually engaging way. When teachers are introduced to Scratch through our online webinars, they are equipped with the knowledge necessary to teach their students about basic computer programming.

We would like to thank our facilitators Mike Oreni and Nephis Ongeri for their guidance over the three online sessions.
