EMAKUNDA Disabled CBO is a Community Based Organization of Disabled Persons in Vihiga County, specifically Emukunzi Sub-location in Emakunda Location in Emuhaya Sub-County [reg. No VHG/EMU/CCSD/CBO/045/2019] in 2019 by the Government of Kenya. The Organization is consisting of 150 disabled persons in the Community. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities reaffirms that all per
sons with all types of disabilities must enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms. The fundamental aims of the EMAKUNDA Project coincide with Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 – that is fighting poverty, hunger alleviation, healthy lives, Equitable Education and Gender Equality and Empowerment of all Women and Girls through Child Empowerment and Sustainable Livelihoods methods. The EMAKUNDA Disabled CBO Empowerment and Community Rehabilitation Centre is for children including the youths and their families for empowerment of the disabled persons in Emakunda Community through education, information sharing and development of initiative projects such as women micro finance and poultry in order to foster sustainable livelihoods for them.
