Naitera Community Empowerment Programme

Naitera Community Empowerment Programme is a community based organization operating in Kiambu County. Naitera’s vision is to ensure sustainable livelihoods, a cleaner environment managed through democratic governance of the community for the benefit of all. Naitera strives to ensure community views and perspectives are reintegrated in to development programmes in the community especially those of

women, youth and elderly. It intends to honor the history of the people in the community with emphasis on the elderly and women. Since its inception, Naitera has been working with the elderly in the county influencing county policies on the plight of the elderly, mobilizing community support for the elderly ensuring that they are aware of the issues facing elderly and the interventions they can undertake. Naitera organizes regular medical camps where volunteer health professionals examine and treat the elderly during medical camps and door to door comfort visits. In carrying out its activities, Naitera conducts baseline surveys whose findings are developed into policy briefs that are shared and continue to be shared with members of county government in an effort to influence their decision in enacting elderly friendly laws. Naitera organize workshops for local leaders to create awareness on the need for elderly support in the community. In efforts to raise awareness on the plight of the elderly, it also organizes open forums through community planning committees
