At Smart Move Community, we believe that meaningful systems change begins with empowered young people who are equipped to lead, innovate, and influence sustainable development within their communities. We are honoured to contribute our experience in community systems strengthening, governance, climate resilience, and youth empowerment while learning from fellow changemakers from across Kenya.

Today, Smart Move Community is proud to participate in the Promoting Local Youth Actions to Advance SDG Localization and Youth Well-being capacity-building workshop in Kwale County.

Convened by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in collaboration with The Commonwealth and other local and international partners, this two-day workshop brings together young leaders, government representatives, civil society organizations, and development partners to strengthen youth leadership and accelerate the localization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Together, we can transform local action into global impact; ensuring that no young person is left behind on the journey toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Yesterday, our Executive Director, Jamal Abdallah, had the privilege of serving as a panelist during the “The Kenya We Want” youth dialogue, a platform that brought together young people to reflect on the kind of nation they aspire to build.

The discussion emphasized the importance of understanding our history, strengthening civic participation, and promoting accountable leadership as foundations for a more inclusive and prosperous Kenya.

During the session, Jamal highlighted the strategic importance of the Coastal region in shaping Kenya’s history and future, noting that history is not merely about the past, but a guide for building equitable governance, active citizenship, and sustainable development. He further encouraged young people to move beyond electoral participation and become active contributors to governance, community development, and nation-building.

At Smart Move Community, we remain committed to creating spaces where young people are informed, engaged, and empowered to shape policies and decisions that affect their lives.

Together, we continue building the Kenya we want; through informed dialogue, meaningful participation, and collective action.

We were honored to host respected Islamic clergy at the for a meaningful recording session focused on peace, morality, and positive community values.

Special appreciation goes to our Champion, Ro Mancer, whose continued commitment to digital peacebuilding and responsible online engagement continues to create impactful spaces for dialogue and social cohesion.

In a time where digital platforms are increasingly shaping narratives, voices of wisdom, faith, and community leadership remain essential in promoting peaceful coexistence, critical reflection, and responsible citizenship; both online and offline.

The session explored important conversations around values, social responsibility, and the role of communities.

At Smart Move Community, we believe peacebuilding must involve all sectors of society; including faith leaders, youth, creatives, and digital influencers, working together to strengthen resilience against division, misinformation, and harmful narratives.

We remain committed to creating safe spaces for constructive dialogue and transformative community engagement.

A productive week of engagements across Kwale County as partners continue strengthening collaboration around sustainable agriculture, resilient food systems, and inclusive blue economy opportunities along the Coast.

Smart Move Community (SMC) continues preparations for the upcoming Swahili Coast Youth in Agri-Food Systems & Blue Economy Expo 2026 under the theme: “Our Food. Our Heritage. Our Future.”

Recent engagements with the Coast Development Authority Page and stakeholders at Kenya agricultural and Livestock Research Organization – Matuga reaffirmed a shared commitment towards strengthening coastal rural economies through climate-smart agriculture, local food systems development, innovation, and youth-led transformation.

The Expo aims to become a regional platform connecting farmers, innovators, researchers, policymakers, investors, and development partners towards resilient and inclusive coastal transformation.
