𝟏. 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐇
April was a vibrant and activity-filled month at The Ark Children’s Home. With the school calendar allowing for the April holidays, the children were fully engaged both within and outside the Centre. It was a period marked by joy, movement, learning, and meaningful interactions.
The holiday season brought a shift from the usual academic routine to a more dynamic schedule involving family reunions, life skills training, home assessments, and preparations for school reopening. The Centre remained lively, with structured programs ensuring every child was engaged, supported, and nurtured.
Overall, it was a successful month that strengthened our core mission of rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration.

𝟐. 𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐋 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒
Every school holiday presents us with a valuable opportunity to promote family bonding and reintegration. In April, we facilitated family reunions for several children, allowing them to spend time with relatives and foster families in a safe and supportive environment.
This process is part of our long-term reintegration strategy, where we gradually prepare children to reconnect with family or community-based care systems. These reunions help children rebuild relationships, experience a sense of belonging, and transition more smoothly toward eventual reintegration.
Where foster placement opportunities were unavailable, children remained at the Centre under our care. We ensured they stayed productive through:
• Academic holiday assignments and revision
• Life skills training (including hygiene, teamwork, and responsibility)
• Recreational and developmental activities
We continue to invite well-wishers, families, and friends who are willing to foster a child or two during school holidays to reach out to us early for proper assessment and preparation. Indeed, it takes a family and a community to raise a child.

𝟑. 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒
April was a particularly busy month for our social work team. Home visits are a critical component of our childcare and protection process, especially in assessing readiness for reintegration.
During this period, our team conducted multiple visits, both planned and impromptu to:
• Evaluate the living conditions of families
• Assess emotional and social readiness of caregivers
• Monitor previously reintegrated cases
• Identify potential risks and support needs
These assessments help us make informed decisions that prioritize the best interests of every child. We remain committed to ensuring that every reintegration is safe, stable, and sustainable.

𝟒. 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋
Interestingly, April marked both the closing and reopening of the school term. This transition period is always one of the busiest times for the Centre.
Preparations for school reopening included:
• Purchasing school supplies
• Paying school fees
• Coordinating logistics and transport
• Engaging partners and well-wishers for support
We are delighted to report that 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙪𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣. This would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our Friends and partners.

𝟓. 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐀𝐃𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒
Education remains a cornerstone of our intervention. During April, we celebrated important milestones as some children performed very well, while others began their educational journeys.
We are especially proud of two of our newly admitted children:
• 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗶 – who joined school for the very first time and expressed great joy and excitement
• 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆– who smoothly transitioned into a new school and was happy to continue her education
These moments remind us why we do what we do giving every child a chance to learn, grow, and dream.

𝟔. 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒, 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐒
April was also a month of connection and generosity. We were honored to host several visitors and receive support from both local and distant friends.

March has been a month of restoration, growth, and love at The Ark Children’s Home. As the rains began to fall, we were reminded of God’s provision not only in nature but also through the many people who continue to stand with us in caring for vulnerable children. From welcoming a new child into safety, to nurturing life skills and strengthening partnerships, we have witnessed God’s faithfulness in every step.

𝟏. 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐀𝐃𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍
In line with our mandate to provide care and protection to vulnerable children, we successfully admitted one child during the month of March through the Department of Children Services (DCS).
This child was identified as being in urgent need of care and protection due to challenging circumstances that compromised their well-being. Through the coordinated efforts of the DCS and our team, the child has now been placed in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment at The Ark.
Since admission, we have begun the process of:
• Providing immediate basic needs (food, clothing, shelter)
• Conducting psychosocial assessment and support
• Initiating integration into the family environment within the home
• Planning for education placement and long-term care
We remain committed to ensuring that every child entrusted to us experiences love, dignity, and hope for a brighter future.

𝟮. 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟𝗢𝗣𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 – 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘
With the onset of the rainy season, we organized a tree planting session within our premises as part of our life skills program.
This initiative aimed to:
• Instill environmental responsibility among the children
• Teach practical skills on tree planting and care
• Promote sustainability and appreciation of nature
The children actively participated in planting and nurturing the trees, learning valuable lessons on:
• Responsibility and consistency
• Environmental conservation
• The importance of giving back to the community
This hands-on activity not only enriched their knowledge but also strengthened teamwork and a sense of ownership of their environment.

𝟑. 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘 & 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒
𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝘾𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 & 𝙃𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢
Our children closed school for the April and Easter holidays and are now at home for a one-month break. During this period, we are preparing a holistic holiday program aimed at keeping them engaged, active, and productive.
The program will include:
• Life skills training
• Spiritual nourishment
• Recreational activities
• Academic support and revision
• Talent development sessions

𝘾𝙤-𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝘼𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨
During the school term, our children actively participated in various co-curricular activities, including:
• Drama
• Music
• Football
• Volleyball
We are proud to report that some of our children excelled and represented their schools at the county level, showcasing their talents and building confidence.

𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞
Academically, the children performed very well. A number of them achieved “𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗘) 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝟭 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮”, reflecting their dedication and the support systems in place.
We celebrate their hard work and remain committed to supporting each child to reach their full academic potential.

As part of our child care approach and in preparation for family reintegration, we prioritize maintaining and strengthening family connections.
During every school holiday, we facilitate family reunions and bonding sessions where children spend time with their families or relatives in a supervised and structured manner.
𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲:
• Plans are underway to release children for two weeks of family bonding
• Assessments are being conducted to ensure safe and supportive environments
• Follow-ups and monitoring will be done during and after the visits

February was a good and encouraging month at The Ark Children’s Home. We are grateful to God for His faithfulness and the many milestones achieved throughout the month. Through the collective efforts of our staff, partners and friends, we continued to provide 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 to the children under our care.
The month was characterized by successful admissions of children in need of care and protection, progress in family tracing and reintegration, strong academic engagement with schools, meaningful midterm bonding time with the children, and numerous visits from friends and partners who supported the work of The Ark.

𝟐. 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐃𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍
During the month of February, two children were admitted to The Ark Children’s Home after being identified as children in need of care and protection. Upon admission, the children were provided with a safe environment, basic necessities, and psychosocial support while their cases began to be addressed through the relevant child protection authorities.
We are also pleased to report that one child was successfully traced and reintegrated with their family after careful assessment and collaboration with the relevant authorities. Reintegration remains an important goal in childcare as it promotes family restoration and long-term stability for the child.

𝟑. 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐂 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐒
Education continues to be a key focus of our work. During February, several of our children who attend different schools participated in academic clinic days and school visits.
Our team visited the schools to engage with teachers and discuss the children’s 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴. These interactions provided a valuable opportunity to encourage the children on the 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 that match their interests and abilities.
Such engagements strengthen collaboration between the home and schools and help ensure the children receive the support they need to excel academically.

𝟒. 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐃𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐍
The two newly admitted children were successfully enrolled in school soon after their admission to The Ark Children’s Home. This ensured that their 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 even as their cases were being addressed through the appropriate child protection systems.
Maintaining continuity in education is essential in helping children regain stability and confidence as they adjust to their new environment.

𝟓. 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐓 𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒
In compliance with the 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮, and child protection best practices, the newly admitted children 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀.
This process ensures that the placement of children in institutional care is legally authorized and properly monitored. It also protects the rights of the children while allowing relevant authorities to follow up on their cases, including family tracing and long-term care planning.

𝟔. 𝐌𝐈𝐃𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐌 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊
During February, the children enjoyed a 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸, giving them an opportunity to spend time together at home.
The break was filled with joy and lively conversations as the children shared their 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. Many of the children who recently joined 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 shared how they were adapting to their new school environments, routines, and friendships.
These moments allowed the children to relax, bond, and strengthen their sense of belonging within the Ark family.

𝟕. 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓
We were honored to receive 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 who came to encourage the children and support the programs of The Ark Children’s Home.

𝟏. 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 – 𝐀 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐎𝐅 𝐆𝐎𝐃’𝐒 𝐅𝐀𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐅𝐔𝐋𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒
As we reflect on the year 2025, our hearts are filled with gratitude to God for His faithfulness and to all our partners and friends who have walked this journey with us. December was a month of celebration, achievement, and thanksgiving at The Ark Children’s Home.
Throughout the year, we successfully conducted home visits and follow-ups, hosted visitors and partners, strengthened reintegration processes, provided quality education and psychosocial support, and celebrated milestones together as one family.
December marked the climax of these efforts as children reunited with relatives during holidays, academic achievements were celebrated, and our Christmas festivities crowned the year with joy.

𝟐. 𝐒𝐔𝐂𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐅 𝐒𝐈𝐗 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐍
In December 2025, we successfully reintegrated six (6) children with their guardians through legal guardianship arrangements, in accordance with the Children’s Act 2022 and recognized best practices in child protection and alternative family care.
This achievement reflects months of careful preparation, family tracing, counseling, home assessments, and collaboration with the Department of Children’s Services. We are grateful to see these children transitioning into safe, stable, and loving family environments.

Our Christmas celebration was a joyful family moment for both children and staff. The day was filled with laughter, music, games, shared meals, and thanksgiving to God. For many of our children, this was a reminder that they belong, they are loved, and they have a family at The Ark.

December brought exciting news as our Grade 6 candidates received their National KJSEA Examination Results. The children performed very well, celebrating this major academic milestone as they prepared for senior secondary placement.

As we began 2026, we reflected with gratitude on how God was faithful throughout 2025. January marked a fresh beginning as we stepped into the New Year trusting God to go before us and prepare the way.

During the December holidays, several children were hosted by relatives and foster families for reunions. They returned safely to The Ark in January with renewed confidence and a sense of belonging.

January was a busy season as:
• Continuing children returned to school
• New children were enrolled
• Some transitioned to new schools after reintegration
These smooth transitions were made possible through staff dedication and partner support.

This January, we strengthened safety preparedness at The Ark Children’s Home through the installation of fire safety equipment at our premises by the Kiambu County Fire Department.
The installation included fire extinguishers and safety guidance to ensure our home meets essential safety standards for child-care institutions. This initiative was made possible through the facilitation and support of our generous well-wishers and partners.

In January 2026, we admitted a new child in need of care and protection through the Department of Children’s Services and the Police. The child is now receiving care, protection, and assessment for long-term planning.

In January, we hosted Eric and his brother, Mr. Moses, and Mrs. Salome and family, Mr. Eric and his Family, whose visits encouraged our children and strengthened our mission.

As schools closed for the December holiday, our home is filled with joy, laughter, and renewed energy. The children were excited to return home after months of hard work in school. The break offers them a chance to rest, bond with each other, and enjoy a homely environment where they feel safe and loved.

We have organized recreational activities, mentorship sessions, and spiritual programs to ensure that their holiday is not only fun but also enriching. The children are especially excited about preparing for the Christmas season, a time that reminds them of hope, love, and togetherness.

𝟐. 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌

This year, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 began earlier than usual. Several children had the opportunity to be hosted by families. These families welcomed the children warmly, offering them the love, structure, and nurturing found in a family setup, something many of them deeply desire.

The joy on the children’s faces as they were picked up was priceless. These home placements help strengthen their emotional and social development while preparing them for long-term reintegration or foster care arrangements.

𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆. The door remains open for a family willing to host a child and offer them the warmth and stability of a family environment. Total verification of host families is done prior to hosting transition.

We proudly celebrate a successful harvest season from our farm. This month, we harvested an abundant supply of green maize, which greatly boosted our food sustainability efforts.

The children enjoyed participating in the harvesting process, learning about agriculture, teamwork, and responsibility. We are grateful for God’s provision and remain committed to expanding our farming projects for long-term sustainability.

Our social work department conducted several home visits throughout the month to assess family environments, build and rebuild relationships, and prepare children for possible reintegration. These visits help ensure that each child returns to a home that is safe, stable, and supportive.

We are delighted to report a major success: 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 were officially reintegrated with their family (Guardianship Placement) after a series of meetings, counseling sessions, and assessments conducted in collaboration with the Children’s Department. This milestone is a testament to teamwork, perseverance, and strong partnership with the community.

Following reintegration, we empowered several families by supporting them with small sustainability projects tailored to their abilities and needs. These projects help families generate income, meet daily needs, and prevent children from returning to institutional care.

Whether through assisting start small businesses, agricultural initiatives, business management training or vocational support, our goal is to ensure that families are stable and confident as they reintegrate with their children. Empowerment remains a crucial element in achieving long-term success in reintegration.

Our children completed their National examinations with great commitment and resilience. They are now ready for the next phase of their academic journey:
• 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟵 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 are awaiting placement into Senior School.
• 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝟰 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 believe for excellent results to transition into universities or tertiary colleges.
We are incredibly proud of them and continue to pray for favor, excellence, and smooth transitions as they step into new academic milestones.

As we concluded the month of November and stepped into December, the festive season, we remain deeply grateful for God’s continuous grace, your unwavering support, and the resilience of our children. Every milestone we celebrate successful reintegration, academic progress, empowering families, and the joyful visits we received is a testimony of what we can achieve together as a united community.
