Yesterday, we brought together over 200 passionate farmers from across Sigomre, Musanda, and Masiro for a powerful Farmer Field Day—an inspiring celebration of learning, sharing, and collective action toward a healthier, more sustainable food system.
At SOAP, we believe deeply in the power of unity. This event reminded us that when farmers come together, transformation becomes possible.
One of the highlights was the tour of our Agroecology Demonstration Farm, a community living classroom designed to show what truly integrated agroecological farming looks like. Farmers witnessed how thoughtful farm planning, companion planting, agroforestry, and ecological design work together to create a space that is productive, resilient, and alive.
The harmony on the farm—the synergy between plants, animals, and soil—spoke louder than words.
We were also proud to see farmers showcase their produce and services, demonstrating how smallholder farmers are filling critical gaps in our local food systems.
✨ Key insights that stood out during the event:
Soil is a living organism. Its health is shaped by every action we take. We either nurture it—or harm it.
What we feed our crops feeds us. Healthy soils grow healthy food, and healthy food nourishes healthy communities.
We hold the power to shape our planet’s future. Agroecology offers a sustainable pathway forward.
Indigenous seeds and foods are our identity. Preserving them is preserving our culture, heritage, and resilience.
Smallholder farmers can feed their communities—with the right knowledge, support, and regenerative practices.
As we concluded the event, we emphasized our shared responsibility to embrace organic and agroecological farming as a solution to:
🌍 restoring our ecosystem
🌾 rebuilding soil health
🥗 improving nutrition
💰 enhancing livelihoods
🔥 and strengthening resilience to climate change.
We are grateful to everyone who participated, shared insights, or showcased their work.
And to all partners, organizations, and individuals passionate about transforming smallholder farming—we warmly welcome you to join us in this journey of empowering communities and rebuilding our food systems the right way.
Together, we grow.
Together, we change lives. 🌿
