Reproductive Health Accountability & Response Kenya (RHARK) is a registered non-profit CBO in Siaya County, Bondo Subcounty that seeks to enlighten young women and youth of all diversities for sustainable development and fulfilment of their SRHR.

✔️ Primary health care workers and Community Health Promoters (CHPs) remain the basic unit and an integral part of our health system. They are often the first point of contact for families at the grassroots level and play a vital role in ensuring that communities are informed, supported, and connected to essential services through effective referral pathways.
✔️ We held an interactive session to sensitize CHPs on the Department of Health And Sanitation - Siaya and the national Post-Abortion Care guidelines. The dissemination focused on articles addressing issues related to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights , Maternal and Child Health , and the needs of Adolescent Girls and Young Women and access to medical safe abortion information and services, With this knowledge, CHPs are better equipped to cascade information and strengthen linkage between communities and health facilities.
✔️ The session emphasized the importance of enhancing information sharing with AGYWs, improving referral linkages from the community to health facilities, and empowering CHPs to act as trusted connectors between households and the broader health system. By continuously equipping CHPs with the right knowledge on health policies, frameworks, guidelines, and tools, we continue to advocate for implementation of these policies to advance access to quality care.

✍️We've held a series of community engagement sessions bringing together key community gatekeepers, to sensitize them about the Siaya , to collaboratively explore how policies can catalyze positive, progressive shifts in cultural practices & beliefs in advancing , upholding , significantly reducing within the community.
✍️Through deep canvassing and reflective storytelling, leveraging relatable community narratives, we focus on open dialogue, encourage participants to critically examine how to address issues like unintended pregnancies unsafe abortions within their local contexts.
✍️The church, recognized as a fundamental mirror of community values & cultural leaders as custodians of tradition, offered insights into their power to drive progressive practices that align with national policies & framework.
✍️The indigenous religious leaders articulated strong support for advocating CSE within its religious environments/the wider community.
✍️We shall go on to sensitize the Bondo Union of indigenous religious Leaders on the , focus on how the church can advance the implementation of these policies consistent with religious beliefs & practices to advance access to ASRHR information and services.

✍️ We are proud to be working closely with Shofco Gender & Inclusion through its comprehensive, community-driven Gender Program, designed to address gender inequalities, safeguard women/girls & reduce . Our collaboration aims to implement programs that empower young people in communities across Siaya County, both in/out of school to tackle issues such as the Plus & human rights violations.
✍️ A core component of our collaboration is providing life skills and rights education to adolescent girls and boys through the Rights of Children Club training that aim to foster a generation that champions gender equality, understands their rights, recognizes abuse, and knows how to speak out and seek help.
✍️ Recently we joined hands to celebrate the successful graduation of the first cohort of learners from various schools across Siaya. This significant milestone is a groundbreaking step as we continue to advocate for the implementation of Comprehensive Sexuality Education programs in schools through their integration with co-curricular activities for effectiveness and sustainability.
✍️ We shall work closely with the Department of Health And Sanitation - Siaya, Education, partners, and other relevant stakeholders to see more young people benefit from these interventions. Our collective goal is to reduce incidents of new , , , , and issues among young people.

✍️Conversations around abortion in rural communities have been faced by Fear & stigma, leaving countless women/girls vulnerable to misinformation & unsafe practices. However, we are witnessing a shift. The dialogue is becoming more open & urgent, fueled by a growing awareness of the devastating consequences of unsafe abortions evident from The Ministry of Health & African Population and Health Research Center data that reveals the situation and need for accessible, accurate information & quality Post-Abortion Care services.
✍️In Siaya, our advocacy efforts are focused on informing communities about the Siaya RMNCAH Act 2024 & AYP action plan, influence it's effective implementation to strengthen health systems, empower communities and safeguard comprehensive reproductive information and rights with a specific focus on women, children, adolescents, and youth.
✍️We are engaging with diverse community members, traditional birth attendants, elderly women, mothers, young women/girls to collectively:
✔️Raise awareness about safe reproductive health practices and the provisions of the RMNCAH Act.
✔️Advocate for the full and equitable implementation of policies that protect reproductive health rights.
✔️Shift community narratives to destigmatize discussions around sexual and reproductive health and end unsafe abortion practices.
✍️By empowering communities with knowledge, advocating for proper policy implementation, we aim to create a future where every individual in Siaya can access the comprehensive reproductive healthcare they need, ensuring safety, dignity and improved health outcomes.
