👍 It is always encouraging when relevant county and national government departments recognise and appreciate the contribution of partners working alongside government to strengthen community health and development. At RHARK, we are proud of our continued collaboration with the Department of Health Services Siaya which has consistently recognised, supported and valued our work from grassroots community engagement to county-level advocacy and policy processes. A good example is the appreciation letter attached, following our recent support for the commemoration of World Contraception Day in Siaya County.

✅ When governments are held accountable, policies and projects are designed to respond to the real needs of citizens, not just frameworks on paper and billboards. Regular monitoring of implementation is essential as it promotes transparency, strengthens oversight and ensures that public resources are allocated effectively and used responsibly. This process builds trust between citizens and institutions, while also guaranteeing that investments in health, agriculture, education and social services deliver tangible results.
✅ For the health sector in particular, accountability means that budgets and programs are aligned with the urgent priorities of communities from reducing maternal and child mortality, to addressing adolescent sexual and reproductive health, to tackling the triple threat of teen pregnancy, HIV, and unsafe abortion.
✅ At RHARK, we believe that accountability is about lives impacted and communities empowered. By working hand in hand with oversight bodies, civil society organizations, media and citizens on continuous capacity building, we can ensure that policies translate into meaningful action and promises made by the duty bearers are fulfilled.

✅ For sustained advocacy efforts on reproductive health rights, policies and frameworks in Siaya, we remain committed to advancing these efforts through continuous engagement with community healthcare workers, health promoters, community stakeholders and young people. Advocacy around the hashtag and other hashtag frameworks goes beyond sensitization but then it focuses on fostering collaboration and building agency among stakeholders who play a critical role in advancing reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health from the grassroots to the policy level.
✅ Through these collective efforts, we anticipate keeping influencing resource allocation and reinforce the implementation of key articles within the Act, advancing commitments that directly address hashtag , improving access to hashtag services and tackling issues that disproportionately affect hashtag in Siaya County. Through such networks we ensure there is accountability that translate policies into tangible impact from the grassroot level.

✔️ Primary health care workers and Community Health Promoters (CHPs) remain the basic unit and an integral part of our health system. They are often the first point of contact for families at the grassroots level and play a vital role in ensuring that communities are informed, supported, and connected to essential services through effective referral pathways.
✔️ We held an interactive session to sensitize CHPs on the Department of Health And Sanitation - Siaya and the national Post-Abortion Care guidelines. The dissemination focused on articles addressing issues related to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights , Maternal and Child Health , and the needs of Adolescent Girls and Young Women and access to medical safe abortion information and services, With this knowledge, CHPs are better equipped to cascade information and strengthen linkage between communities and health facilities.
✔️ The session emphasized the importance of enhancing information sharing with AGYWs, improving referral linkages from the community to health facilities, and empowering CHPs to act as trusted connectors between households and the broader health system. By continuously equipping CHPs with the right knowledge on health policies, frameworks, guidelines, and tools, we continue to advocate for implementation of these policies to advance access to quality care.
