We're starting our new Meet the Team series by introducing our Founder.

In Part 1, he talks about what inspired him to start YouthPrinua and what makes our approach to waste management and youth empowerment different.

🗑️ Have you ever wondered where Nairobi's waste goes after you throw it away?

Waste doesn't simply disappear.

It can be collected, sorted and recovered, giving materials like plastic, paper and metal another life. But waste that isn't recovered can end up in streets, drains and waterways, with much of Nairobi's waste eventually reaching Dandora dumpsite.

This is why community-led waste recovery matters.

Through our work with young people, women and waste pickers, YouthPrinua is working to recover more waste, create opportunities and strengthen a more circular approach to waste management.

Yesterday, part of the YouthPrinua team participated in the Daraja Civic Initiative Forum in Ruaraka – Ajenda Yetu: Advancing Issue-Based Governance and Political Engagement in Kenya.

The forum provided an important space for reflection, dialogue and collective action around the issues affecting our communities. Together with other community actors, we contributed to the development of a Citizen Manifesto — a tool through which citizens can articulate their priorities, reclaim their voice and advocate for meaningful change.

For YouthPrinua, this was an opportunity to bring waste management into the conversation. Waste management is not only an environmental issue; it directly affects public health, livelihoods, community safety and the resilience of our neighbourhoods.

We believe that sustainable solutions must be community-led and informed by the people most affected by the challenges they seek to address.

We are proud to have contributed to this important conversation in Ruaraka and to continue advocating for cleaner, healthier and more resilient communities. ♻️

We are proud to announce that Youthprinua is participating in the 5-Day Sheria Ya Vijana Project Bootcamp, a transformative program bringing together young entrepreneurs and innovators from Nairobi and Kwale- Kenya to strengthen their enterprises through innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable business development.

Throughout the bootcamp, our team will engage in intensive training sessions covering:

🌱 Climate entrepreneurship and green innovation

💼 Business model development and enterprise growth

💻 Digital transformation and technology integration

📈 Financial sustainability and investment readiness

🤝 Networking, mentorship, and strategic partnerships
