Undetectable = Untransmittable

The amount of HIV in your body fluids is called your viral load. Effective HIV treatment (antiretroviral therapy) suppresses the amount of HIV in your body fluids to the point where standard tests are unable to detect any HIV, or can only find a tiny trace and this is known as ‘having an undetectable viral load’ or ‘being undetectable’.

Having an undetectable viral load does not mean you are cured of HIV. If you stopped taking treatment, your viral load would increase and once again be detectable.

It means that there is not enough HIV in your body fluids to pass HIV on during s*x. In other words, you are not infectious.

For as long as your viral load stays undetectable, your chance of passing on HIV to a s*xual partner is zero. As the campaign slogan puts it, 'Undetectable equals Untransmittable' or 'U=U'.

Adherence has good results hence to any person living with HIV, make sure that you do so.

Blessings 💖

Both PrEP & PEP work to prevent HIV infection, but they are different and taken in different situations:

* Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medicine which HIV-negative people can take to protect them against HIV infection. It’s taken BEFORE exposure and when used correctly is very effective and will reduce the risk of HIV infection to almost zero.

* Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is a form of emergency treatment taken AFTER possible exposure to HIV to prevent HIV infection. You must take PEP less than 72 hours after you think you were exposed to HIV.

Neither PrEP or PEP will protect you against other STIs or pregnancy. Condoms are the best protection for these.

As you start a new month, I pray that you may have the strength and spirit to continue fighting on.
Replace the hate you once had with love.
To have a positive mindset despite these trying times and to have a closer relationship with God.

A woman living with HIV can pass HIV to her child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding.
Treatment can greatly reduce the chances of this.

Lifelong antiretroviral therapy (ART) is recommended for all adults and children from the time their HIV-positive status is known.
A woman who started ART before pregnancy or when tested during pregnancy greatly reduces the chances that her baby will be infected in the uterus or during delivery. ART for the mother also greatly reduces the chances of passing HIV to her infant through breast milk.

Let's all come together and eliminate mother to child transmission.

Blessings ❤️

Taking your HIV treatment is important because :

* It keeps the amount of HIV in your body low, protecting your immune system so that you can stay healthy and live a long life.
* Taking HIV treatment can reduce the amount of virus in your blood to such low levels that there's zero risk of passing HIV on.

It's very important to keep taking your HIV treatment as prescribed by your healthcare provider. If you're struggling with your HIV treatment, don't stop taking it. Talk to your healthcare provider - they can offer support and advice.

What is HPV?

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the name for a group of viruses that affect your skin & the moist membranes of your body. These include the cervix (entrance to the womb), a**s, mouth and throat.

There are a number of different strains of HPV.
Most have no symptoms, go away by themselves and don’t cause any health problems.
Some types can cause ge***al warts or lead to cervical, a**l and other cancers.

Sharing your HIV status should be your personal decision.

Advantages :

1. It makes you feel comfortable & hence very empowering.
2. Speaking about HIV openly combats stigma.
3. It is helpful to have a support system eg in times of illness or when dealing with the psychological & emotional problems.
4. Sharing your status with health professionals helps them provide appropriate care that meets your needs as a person living with HIV.
5. Talking about having HIV may lead to increased trust and feelings of intimacy in a relationship or close friendship.
6. Sharing your status with a negative s*xual partner can be very difficult but it gives you the opportunity to speak about ways in which your partner’s health can be protected eg use of condoms, PEP, undetectable status or use of PrEP.

Lastly , Sharing your journey allows people to understand you better hence everyone should atleast have 1 or two people who knows about it.
