Strengthening Food Security Through School Farms๐Ÿซ’๐Ÿซ’

At Esosian and Imurto Primary Schools in Sub County, school farms are helping tackle one of the biggest barriers to education, that is, food insecurity. Since the start of the project supported by Aidlink Ireland, over a dozen school farms have been established, enabling schools to produce food for learners.

This has reduced reliance on relief food and eased the burden of additional feeding levies on families, while contributing to improved attendance and reduced dropout rates. School farms are proving to be a practical, sustainable solution, supporting both nutrition and continuity in learning.

๐ŸŒฑ Building a Greener Frontier: GCN & KDF Join Forces for Climate Action in ๐ŸŒฑ

A powerful partnership between the Girl Child Network (GCN) and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is transforming environmental action at the Lokichoggio military base.

Through joint tree planting and clean-up drives, the initiative has so far seen the planting of approximately 200,000 tree seedlings, marking a significant step toward ecosystem restoration and climate resilience in the region.

Supported by Education Above All Foundation's Reach Out To Asia program, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to environmental protection, sustainable land restoration, and community engagement in climate action.
Beyond greening the landscape, the collaboration also strengthens environmental awareness, discipline in conservation, and unity of purpose between institutions and communities working toward a common goal.

Our Executive Board spent a meaningful and joyful day with the girls and boys at the Fernandos Salama Safe Shelter and Mentorship Hub. The visit was filled with fun, games, learning, and mentorship, creating memorable moments for everyone involved.

The young people participated in engaging sessions on business mentorship, beauty therapy training, and soft skills development, which they greatly appreciated and enjoyed. They also took part in exciting games, including badminton, bringing energy, teamwork, and smiles all around.

The day was made even more special as everyone shared warm meals, laughter, and moments of joy together. It was a truly inspiring experience of connection, encouragement, and empowerment.

๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ World Earth Day 2026 Celebrations in Kakuma ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒ

Today was a powerful day of action, learning, and commitment to protecting our planet. Learners from Kakuma Arid Zone Primary School and Kakuma Mixed Primary School took the lead in keeping their environment clean by conducting a town clean-up exercise, demonstrating that a cleaner community starts with all of us. ๐Ÿงน

At Kalemchuch Primary School, youth champions came together to plant 120 trees, contributing to a greener future and helping restore our environment one tree at a time. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š

The day concluded with a vibrant event where partners and stakeholders delivered inspiring speeches emphasizing the importance of environmental responsibility, caring for our Earth, promoting tree planting, and practicing proper waste management. ๐ŸŒ

๐ŸŒ Building Momentum for Earth Day 2026 ๐ŸŒฑ
As we count down to Earth Day (22nd April), todayโ€™s build-up activity in Lokichoggio showed the power of collective action in protecting our environment.
Together with local youth, students, and the dedicated support of the Kenya Defence Forces, we carried out a major clean-up exercise across Lokichoggio town, reinforcing the message that environmental responsibility starts with each one of us.

๐ŸŒณ The day didnโ€™t stop there:
1,000 trees planted at Lokichoggio Mixed Secondary School and Mogila Girls Secondary School
10,000 litres of water delivered to each school to ensure the survival and growth of the trees
This collaboration is a practical reminder that climate action goes beyond wordsโ€”it requires commitment, partnership, and sustained effort.
Every piece of waste collected, every tree planted, and every drop of water delivered is a step toward a greener, more resilient future.
๐Ÿ’š Our power. Our planet.
