"When the doctor told me I had cancer, I didn't cry."

I had gone to the hospital after noticing a swelling in my breast. The tests were done, the waiting was over, and there I was sitting in the doctor's office hearing the words, "You have cancer."

Strangely, I didn't react.

Maybe a part of me had already prepared for it.

My daughter was waiting outside. When she saw me, she took the report from my hands and searched online for what it meant. As I stood there silently praying, she looked at me and said, "We will beat this."

That was the moment the tears came.

The months that followed were filled with chemotherapy, surgery, hospital visits, and uncertainty. There were days I was afraid, days when the financial burden felt overwhelming, and days when I questioned how I would get through it all.

But I was never alone.

My family walked beside me every step of the way, and through a support group at KUTRRH, I was introduced to Faraja. Beyond helping with part of my treatment costs, Faraja gave me access to support groups, patient empowerment sessions, nutrition talks, therapies, and a community of people who truly understood what I was going through.

Today, I am grateful for every prayer, every act of kindness, and every hand that helped carry me through.

If there is one thing I have learned, it is this:

"The first step is acceptance. Then have faith and surround yourself with a good support system."

THANK YOU FOR MAKING WWR 2026 UNFORGETTABLE 🌊

What a weekend that was.

To every rafter who braved the rapids, every spectator who cheered from the sidelines, every volunteer who showed up before sunrise, every sponsor who believed in the cause, every hospitality team member, you are true friends of Faraja. Thank you. Truly.

Because of YOU, White Water Rafting Challenge 2026 became more than just an event. It became a beautiful reminder that when people come together for a cause, hope becomes louder than fear.

Every paddle stroke, every chant, every donation, every moment shared by the river will go towards supporting children and adults living with cancer, as well as their caregivers.

Thank you for bringing the energy.
Thank you for bringing the love.
Thank you for paddling with purpose.

Sagana was full of rapids, laughter, teamwork, music, mud, memories, and impact, and we could not have done it without you.

From all of us at Faraja, asanteni sana for standing with us, believing in the mission, and reminding cancer patients and caregivers that they are not alone.

Mark your calendars for the next rafting challenge, 21st - 23rd May 2027.

Until next year…
