Our Home-Based Care team continues to reach out to the community with dedication and compassion, bringing vital health information right to the doorsteps of the people we serve. This week, our team has been vibrant and active in conducting HIV sensitization and creating awareness about related infections. Through open discussions, personalized health talks, and continuous follow-up, we are helping individuals and families understand the importance of prevention, early testing, and timely treatment.

We are greatly encouraged to see more community members volunteering for HIV testing. Every person who steps forward to know their status takes an important step toward protecting their health and contributing to a healthier community.

A heartfelt appreciation goes to all our partners and donors who make these activities possible. Your generous support enables us to reach more people, offer accurate information, and provide essential services. Truly, **your contributions save lives**, and together we continue to bring hope, healing, and positive change to our community.

Today, under our Home-Based Care program, we conducted an important sensitisation session on HIV and drug awareness at Raila Grounds.

The session brought together many youths who were eager to learn and engage. Our team took them through detailed discussions on the dangers of drug and substance abuse, how addiction affects their health, families, and future, and the strong link between drug use and increased vulnerability to HIV infection.

We also shared practical guidance on prevention, making healthy choices, and where to seek help or counselling when faced with challenges related to drugs or sexual health.

The youth participated actively, asking questions and sharing experiences that enriched the session. We truly appreciate their openness and willingness to learn.

At Shirikisho Dispensary and the Oyugis Integrated Project, we remain committed to empowering our young people with knowledge that protects their wellbeing and strengthens our community.

Together, we can build a healthier, drug-free, and HIV-aware generation.

This weekend, Shirikisho Dispensary carried out a series of outreach health talks as part of our ongoing Home-Based Care activities in Nyalgosi and Kiwiro villages.**

Our dedicated team engaged the community through **HIV sensitisation**, raising awareness on prevention, early testing, and the importance of knowing one’s status. We also provided education on **cervical cancer**, emphasizing early screening and treatment as key steps in saving lives.

In addition, we conducted **HIV testing for all volunteers who were willing**, ensuring that community members not only received information but also took a practical step toward safeguarding their health.

These outreach activities help bring essential medical services closer to the people, especially those who may not always access health facilities easily. We remain committed to promoting healthier families and empowering communities with the knowledge they need to live healthier lives.

Shirikisho Dispensary, through the Oyugis Integrated Project, will continue reaching out with compassion and dedication—one village at a time.

Women: Pillars of Family Health and Well-Being

Women hold a central and irreplaceable role within families. As primary caregivers and managers of the household, they contribute greatly to the physical, emotional, and social health of their families. From preparing nutritious meals and caring for children to maintaining cleanliness and offering support, women influence the entire family’s well-being on a daily basis.

Because women play such a key role, empowering them with health knowledge has a direct and lasting impact on the whole household. When women learn about safe water treatment, proper sanitation, and hygiene practices, they gain practical skills that prevent diseases and keep their families healthy.

Simple practices—such as boiling or chlorinating water, using clean containers, proper waste disposal, and maintaining hygiene in food preparation—significantly reduce illnesses like diarrhea, typhoid, and cholera. These diseases affect many families, especially children, yet they can be prevented through good hygiene and clean water practices led by informed caregivers.

The Oyugis Integrated Project (OIP) recognizes this powerful influence and continues to offer health education to the community.

The impact is clear: healthier children, reduced clinic visits, lower medical costs, and improved quality of life. When women are supported and educated, families thrive and communities grow stronger.

Empowering women in water, sanitation, and hygiene is more than training—it is investing in the health, dignity, and future of the entire community.
