Help us to succeed: [email protected] Umbrelle of Hope is opgericht door Wambui Gicheru, geboren in Nyeri, als jonge vrouw heeft zij gestudeerd en gewerkt in West-Europa. Samen met haar man is ze eigenaar van een zelfstandige onderneming in Eindhoven. Tijdens regelmatige bezoeken aan fami

lie zag ze de bijna uitzichtloze omstandigheden, waarin sommige kinderen opgroeien. Voor haar aanleiding om de stichting Umbrella of Hope op te richten en een bijdrage te leveren aan een betere toekomst voor deze kinderen in Nyeri. She grew up in Nyeri and saw her country being governed by the best educated people. In her youth she was fortunate enough that her family could let het finish education. She saw smart kids drop out because their parents couldn’t pay for education. It was a waste of talent and a great loss to the development of the country. She started Umbrella of Hope. Our aim: Help children with the guidance and care of family and supported by Umbrella of Hope to become well educated and responsible young adults.

Update from Nyeri:
Our chairman Eugène had appointments with the constructor and with the headmaster of Githwariga Primary School. The school is applying for a building permit, the contractor takes care of the drawing and a project description.

Board member Wambui had a conversation with representatives of County Nyeri who asked her to send a project description to present to the Governor. Hopefully the Governor will support this project which is so important for the wellbeing of children in Nyeri.

While we were making plans, the school received a basketball backboard from a Kenyan donor. This basket is placed on the school grounds, this little practice field is often used by the children. The school decided to register a team for a national basketball-tournament for primary schools. Githwariga is the only Primary School without a properly sized practice field.

Another remarkable fact: people from outside want to use this little practice field. There's is definitely a need for a good and safe sports field.

Lege flessen voor een droog sportveld.

De hele maand februari kunt u bij https://www.facebook.com/AlbertHeijnDijkstra uw statiegeld doneren aan Umbrella of Hope. Met de opbrengst van deze actie willen we een duurzaam sportveld verwezelijken voor 700 basisschoolleerlingen van de Githwariga Primary School in Nyeri/Kenya. Afgelopen maanden hebben we diverse schenkingen voor het basketbalveld ontvangen, ontzettend bedankt aan deze gulle gevers. En grote dank aan de vaste donoren. Zonder uw, vaak al jarenlange donaties, kunnen wij niet helpen.
Eugène, voorzitter van Umbrella of Hope, is in Nyeri en heeft een afspraak gemaakt met de aannemer om de offerte door te lopen. We komen steeds dichter bij het einddoel, nog 56 vierkante meters, nog 56 donaties van €28,57 🙏
