professionalism by virtue of academic excellence, one’s daily occupation, both or none? While some people acquire trainings and later make a niche for themselves, a big number of people too are extreme opposite. They eke a living in fields alien to their own professional trainings.interestingly; these “radical” people do succeed in these fields more than those who claim to be the authentic owners
of those fields. From whichever angle, you may decide to define the word professional; one thing stands out as a fact. The Catholic Church has people who are extremely skilled and trained in diverse disciplines. This is one thing that should make us proud especially at a time lie this when the church is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the 2nd Ecumenical Vatican Council.Nevertheless, it’s a great pity that these knowledgeable people are not felt in the church. The members of the clergy are doing all they can to realize their novel mission. All alone however, they can’t quench the real and imagined thirst so far on the ground. Not only do we require someone to read the Bible for us, but someone to guide us on what hybrid seeds to plant and when to do it, lest the ugly face of hunger threaten to manifest itself. We cannot afford to let go our good teachers when there is dire need of their professional advice and tutelage. Imagine the beauty if our own members of the bench hold at lest two free legal clinics per year in our churches and parishes. Imagine the learned friends responding to questions from distressed Christians and offering advice to people in a field which has seen people suffer loss of property in the hands of fraudsters. Albert Einstein a physic and a philosopher said once:”it’s every man’s obligation to put back to the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it.” It’s our high time,we professionals, that we rethink our church in the light and spirit of the New Evangelization what we should realize is that the world stands in desperate need of our intellect. If the very first beneficiary of this noble mission are the people whom we commune together, the better. This is a call that should be embraced wholeheartedly. It should not be founded on the theorem that so and so is either for or against the idea,no.It should not be founded ooon genuine love for the people of God.Probably you may be the first one to propose this to other professionals in your church or in your place of work.Infact that’s hoe it should work. You must not always go to where the path may seem to lead you,Julia Upton advices, but rather to where there’s no path and leave a trail. You might be the only hope your people have been waiting for.Do not frustrate them. Remember the word of our lord Jesus Christ in Luke 8:16 “people do not light a lamp and cover it
