Pride, fear and wrong counsel
The Danger of Fear, Pride, and Wrong Counsel. Many kings, Many mighty men fell from grace to grass— not because God abandoned them, but because they listened to the wrong voices.
Fear and pride will take you from grace to grass, but prayer, God’s Spirit, and obedience will keep you standing.
Nebuchadnezzar is one.King Saul is another.
They walked in fear.
They walked in pride.
They made decisions against their conscience.
The pressure will come. The easier escape route will present itself.
The question is: Will you stand faithful, or will you fall?
The story of king Saul: 1 Samuel 15:24-28
What went wrong with King Saul, He feared people more than God.“I was afraid of the men and so I gave in to them.1 Samuel 15:24
People fanned his fear. They pressured him to disobey.
When you fear man, you will compromise God. Proverbs 29:25 He chose the easier route over obedience. God's instruction was clear: Destroy everything.
But Saul took the shortcut. He spared the best sheep and cattle. Know that disobedience always dresses up as "a good reason."
Because Saul rejected God’s Word, God rejected him as king.v.28
His service was rejected. His crown was torn away, just like Samuel’s robe.
God is looking for men and women who will obey, even when it’s hard.
Our prayer today should be Lord, deliver me from the fear of man and the pride of life.
Give me Your Spirit to discern, Your power to obey, and Your favor to stand.
I choose Your Word over every easier option.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Happy week!
