Leaders from 11 LGBTIQ+ coastal organizations came together to learn, reflect, and build a shared pathway toward sustainability.

The workshop created a collaborative space for organizations to exchange experiences, insights, and practical solutions.

💡 Turning knowledge into practical action.
Participants moved beyond learning by identifying practical priorities and actions they can take within their organizations.

📈 Strengthening capacity. Expanding possibilities.
Building skills in leadership, proposal development, donor engagement, and organizational positioning opens new opportunities for growth.

🌱 Pema Kenya brought together 11 LGBTIQ+ coastal organizations for a three-day Pathways to Sustainability Workshop, held from 29 September–1 October 2026, with technical assistance from Positive Vibes South Africa. From resource mobilization and donor engagement to proposal development, leadership, and organizational resilience, participants explored practical pathways to strengthen their organizations and sustain community-led impact. 💪🏾🏳️‍🌈

Pema Kenya recently convened a Human Rights and Labour Framework Workshop, bringing together key stakeholders, including officers from the Department of Livestock and Agriculture, the Department of Gender, and Civil Society Organizations.

The workshop provided an important platform to strengthen understanding of human rights, labour rights, inclusion, and the importance of creating safe and equitable environments where everyone can participate, work, and thrive without discrimination.

Through meaningful dialogue, shared experiences, and collaborative learning, we continue to build the capacity of duty bearers and partners to promote dignity, equality, and inclusion for all.

Last week, Pema Kenya staff represented the organization at the MenEngage Symposium in Mombasa, bringing together diverse actors committed to advancing gender equality, social justice, and inclusive communities.

The symposium provided a valuable space to share experiences, learn from one another, and strengthen collective action towards transforming harmful gender norms and promoting positive masculinities.

As Pride Month comes to an end, we want to thank each one of you for showing up with courage, authenticity, and love. Pride is more than a month on the calendar, it is a reminder that our lives, our stories, and our communities matter every single day.

This month, we celebrated our resilience, honored those who paved the way, remembered those we have lost, and reaffirmed our commitment to dignity, equality, and justice for all LGBTQ+ people in Kenya.

As we step into a new month, let us carry the spirit of Pride with us: standing together, supporting one another, speaking out against injustice, and continuing to build safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces for our community.

Remember to rest when you need to, celebrate every victory, big or small, and never lose sight of the hope we are creating together.
