Agro ecological markets are emerging as transformative spaces that connect producers and consumers through systems rooted in ecological sustainability, social justice, and cultural integrity. Unlike conventional markets that prioritize profit and volume, agro ecological markets emphasize the well-being of people, the health of ecosystems, and the strengthening of local economies. They provide platforms for smallholder farmers, women, and youth to showcase diverse, nutritious, and culturally appropriate foods produced using ecological farming practices.
These markets go beyond the exchange of goods; they serve as arenas for knowledge sharing, community building, and reinforcing values of solidarity, fairness, and resilience. By shortening value chains and promoting direct relationships between producers and consumers, agro ecological markets help ensure fair prices, reduce dependency on exploitative intermediaries (brokers), and strengthen food sovereignty.
Caritas Nyahururu through the Common Action Towards Achieving Food Security (CATAFS) project is organizing agro ecology markets in Ol Moran project area (Tuesday 23rd September 2025 at Ol MOran) and Mochongoi project area (Tuesday 30th September 2025 at Kabel) .
Welcom all, lets learn, lets share, lets connect- but above all, lets support the small holder farmers...
