In the heart of Laikipia County, where dust swirls across rough roads and acacia trees give little shade, students at St. Peters Withare Secondary School once shared textbooks and relied on chalkboards to explain complicated ideas.
Today, those same classrooms buzz with excitement as students huddle around computers, watch animated images of molecules bonding and access mock exams from Kenya’s top schools materials they never had before in this part of Laikipia County.

This transformation is thanks to a powerful partnership between Ol Pejeta Conservancy and ARES Education, a Kenyan NGO pioneering offline digital learning to schools. Ol Pejeta provided 10 desktop computers, solar panels for reliable power and thorough teacher training. The effects were immediate.

Withare's KCSE mean scores have risen, a major step in Kenya’s tough grading system. But the benefits aren’t just about marks but also computer skills have soared among students and teachers.

Thanks to this unique partnership, Withare’s students are ready to keep that balance as Kenya’s future leaders, professionals, and maybe even conservationists. The offline learning revolution has arrived in rural Kenya, and it’s changing lives one lesson at a time!

In many rural communities, students lack access to digital learning tools, limiting their educational opportunities compared to their urban peers. Through a collaboration between Tsavo Trust , Kamungi Conservancy, African Ruggedized Education Solution (ARES), Eagle Foundation, and Haller we are bridging the digital divide and enhancing access to quality education through the installation of fully equipped ICT hubs in secondary schools along the northern boundary of Tsavo West National Park.

So far, we have installed ICT hubs in seven schools, providing 160 laptops, seven ARES servers pre-loaded with high-quality educational content, eight projectors, 14 speakers, three 5KVA hybrid solar systems, and ongoing technical support. This initiative transforms learning for 1,960 students in rural areas, equipping them with modern learning tools, expanded resources, and essential digital skills.

This initiative is more than technology—it’s about unlocking potential, expanding opportunities, and shaping future conservationists. Your support can help install more ICT hubs and empower even more students.

Join us in making a lasting impact!

In January 2025, ARES, in collaboration with Tsavo Trust and Kamungi Conservancy, installed a fully equipped ICT hub at Lukenya Community School in Makueni County, Kenya.

This transformative initiative equips 250 students and 16 teachers with 20 laptops, an ARES server, a projector, and two speakers, providing access to essential educational resources.

The ARES server, designed for rugged environments, provides high-quality educational content without the need for constant internet access—an essential feature for rural schools. By integrating technology into education, we are expanding access to knowledge and empowering students in rural areas of the Tsavo Conservation Area with the resources they need to thrive.

Together with our partners, we are not only bridging the digital divide and enhancing education but also shaping the future of the next generation of conservation champions by unlocking potential, expanding opportunities, and inspiring meaningful change.

At ARES, we believe that access to education is a fundamental part of building a brighter future.

We're proud to collaborate with Ol Pejeta Conservancya to bring digital learning opportunities to Ngobit School, ensuring students have the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. For many of these learners, this is their first time using a computer—an experience that is now shaping their confidence, knowledge, and connection to the world beyond their classrooms.

Together, we're not just bridging the digital divide—we’re helping to empower the next generation. 🌍✨

Owning a uniform is the difference between lifelong education and not being able to attend school.

The Ares Team took a break from installing servers and computers to work with its counterpart Aftretech Aid to give some new uniforms to a school. A lot of the uniforms were torn, ripped, and too small.

In Kenya, a uniform can be the difference between attending school and being forced to stay home. Most schools are strict on uniforms and if a uniform gets too worn, they will require the student to buy a new one. However, most of the kids in Rural Kenya struggle financially and their families need to buy food before they buy a uniform which means education can be forgotten.

Delivering 20 new uniforms to the students can truly allow them to continue their education.

Installing the ARES server at Labbura Primary school was great! The students and the teachers were engaged and super excited to learn about how they can best utilize the server and projector. The projector alone will save teachers so much time and help students learn so much faster! It’s hard to describe a mitochondria without showing a graphic on it!

Our journey began at Ngobit Girls School, where we had the incredible opportunity to deliver their very first set of computers. The excitement among the students was palpable as they eagerly explored the potential of using technology to enhance their learning. For many, this was their first chance to experience digital tools that can connect them to knowledge and perspectives from around the globe.

The warm welcome we received from both the students and teachers was heartwarming, as they were not only curious about the world of technology but also keen to learn about life in North America. The ARES team was thrilled to see their enthusiasm, from asking questions about integrating computers into their studies to dreaming of how this new resource could open doors to a brighter future.

This is more than just a delivery—it’s the start of a journey toward empowering these young minds with skills and opportunities that will shape their futures. We’re excited to see this partnership grow and the impact it will bring to the Ngobit Girls School community
