Meet Alex Karoki, a Gen Z voice boldly eyeing the Laikipia Senatorial seat.

Known by his powerful hashtag , Alex’s vision goes beyond politics, he is positioning himself as a leader determined to make the Senate work for ordinary wananchi, especially the youth.
He says he wants to champion stronger oversight of county resources, push for fair allocation of development funds, create pathways for youth employment and enterprise, and be a fearless voice in defending the rights of Laikipia residents at the national stage. His promise is simple: a Senate seat that delivers results, not speeches. This is not his first attempt, proof of resilience, consistency, and belief in his cause. But the question remains: Are Laikipia youths ready to rally behind one of their own, a leader who understands their struggles, speaks their language, and is ready to fight for their future? Or will Laikipia once again recycle the familiar faces?

PIO GAMA PINTO ASSASSINATION (1965)

✏️On the morning of February 24, 1965, Pinto was shot dead outside his home in Nairobi’s Westlands area.
✏️He had just arrived home with his family
As he stepped out of his car to open the gate, a gunman approached
He was shot at close range and died almost instantly
This made him the first high-profile political assassination in independent Kenya
THE KILLER AND TRIAL

✏️A man named Nahashon Njenga Njoroge was arrested, tried, and convicted for the murder.
However, many questions remained:
Who sent him?
✏️Was it a lone act or politically motivated?
To this day, many believe the assassination was part of a broader political struggle within Kenya’s leadership.

POLITICAL CONTEXT AND MOTIVES

✏️Pinto’s death came during a period of intense ideological rivalry:
One side favored capitalism and Western alignment
✏️The other, including Pinto, leaned toward socialism and closer ties with Eastern bloc countries
