Dedicated to the preservation of Kenya’s Natural and Cultural Heritage in partnership with local communities, through public awareness and sustainable development. THE 50 TREASURES OF KENYA
The general idea of the 50 Treasures of Kenya is as simple as striking: Declare Kenya's 50 biggest attractions as „The 50 Treasures of Kenya“ in connection to the 50th Anniversary of Jamhuri Day which is due on

12th of December 2013, a single treasure for each year of independence. To use the 50 Treasures of Kenya for a publicity and marketing campaign in order to make Kenyans explore the beauty of their own country and adjust the nation's picture abroad, luring more travellers and investors to Kenya and into regions so far scarcely visited.

Happy World Radio Day 2026!!😍📻
This year, the official theme designated by UNESCO is "Radio and Artificial Intelligence: AI is a tool, not a voice." It celebrates the synergy between a century-old medium and the cutting edge of technology.
Today we celebrate the past, present, and future of broadcasting. In 2026, we embrace new technology while remembering that it’s the human stories that truly connect us.

"Rising above the arid landscapes east of Lake Turkana, Mt. Kulal in Marsabit County has been declared Kenya’s 70th Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA), placing the remote volcanic mountain on the global conservation map.
The designation follows a rapid ornithological survey that confirmed the presence of rare and threatened species, including the critically endangered White-headed and Hooded Vultures, 26 biome-restricted birds, and the mountain’s own endemic species, the Kulal White-eye."

🌍 World Rhino Day 2025 🦏
Did You Know? Kiplombe Community Conservancy is a proud native home of the endangered black rhino. The descendants of this iconic creature now roam freely in Lake Nakuru National Park where they were relocated to in 1980s. On this year’s World Rhino Day, under the theme “Five Rhinos Forever”, we call upon everyone to join hands in safeguarding this iconic species.
Protecting the black rhino means protecting our heritage, our biodiversity, and the future of generations to come. Together, let’s stand united to end poaching, restore habitats, and ensure that rhinos will roam our lands forever.
🤝 “Let’s conserve, protect, and celebrate the black rhino — our shared treasure.” This is the rallying call from the newly inducted Kiplombe Community Conservancy rangers, whose dream is to one day have the black rhino back in their conservancy again!

The big day of consecrating and inaugurating of the Sinyati pipeline and water tank is finally here! The evening before, we arrive from Nairobi and are greeted by the massive water tank placed already on its foundation.

The next morning, we wake up to sunshine and the buzzing of the Sinyati ladies. Their excitement is palpable as they softly hum and exchange niceties and jokes with each other while preparing for the day.

A goat is slaughtered and meat and soup are boiled in massive pots over the fire, while the area under the big kitchen acacia is cleared from grass and shrub to cater for a shaded area during get-together of the community.

Salaja, the painter is branding the tank with credits for the donors while Nixon, the water engineer, and Davinson the mason are connecting feeder and overflow pipes and a tap.

Before lunch, we all have an online call with Dr. Sigrid, who graciously covered the lion share of the bill for the project. In an emotional move, she was given a new Ilchamus name: “Maiyana”, meaning ‘blessing’. But thanks is also extended to the many supporters who financed a meter of the pipeline, and to the members of our German partner team who helped so much with planning and fundraising.

The afternoon is spent with lunch and speeches in the presence of all ladies in their traditional regalia and representatives of their husbands, the elders, the youth and the workmen. Finally, the beautifully decorated water tank is put into functioning with prayers, tape cutting, tap opening, tree planting and more cheerful Ilchamus singing.

Although celebrations continue, we have to bid farewell and start driving to make it back to the Treasure Hub in Ngong before dark. We are fulfilled and happy, to say the least. Sinyati Project phase 1 is terminated successfully! And planning for phase 2 has already started - stay tuned!

🇰🇪🇰🇪 TOK Fieldtrip: Sinyati Women Self-help Group 01 😍👣

After a one-and-a-half hours’s drive to the North we are warmly welcomed by the Sinyati Ladies, our other project partner in Baringo County. As usual, we are sitting in the shade of a massive toothbrush tree (Salvadora persica) which was merely a small bush when we initially came here in 2021.

Immediately after being seated, a feeling of home-coming and relaxation takes over. With its cool shade, the tree now functions as an outdoor office, kitchen and sitting room for the ladies. While things under its green umbrella are done with plenty of chatting, laughter, and a spirit of strong female togetherness, the second storey is inhabited by tenants that constantly seem to bicker: A flock of noisy weaver birds.

We are served refreshing chai, the local tea while exchanging the news of the past half a year. Afterwards, we talk through our joint plans for the coming days. Following months of planning and preparations, we are finally implementing the initial steps of a big dream.

Ultimately, the ladies intend to develop their plot into an innovation centre that will serve as a research and education facility where solutions for better agricultural, economic, ecological and social practices are tested, demonstrated and taught.

But until this adorable goal can be achieved, many steps have to be taken. The first and most essential for any further development is to bring water to the compound. Since the ground water is salty, we are building a fresh water pipeline and installing a buffer tank.

Tomorrow, the work will start. God willing!
