Every child deserves a safe place to grow, play, and learn. 💚
Since 2019, the Green Steps Project daycare has been a safe haven for young children in the Ngong Umoja (Mathare) community. What started as a way to support parents working at the former Ngong dumpsite has grown into a nurturing space that has prepared over 100 children for school!
Here is what we are building together:
Nutritious Meals: Providing healthy, balanced food and fresh fruit daily for 25 babies under age 5.
Essential Care: Ensuring access to clean hygiene supplies and providing shoes for children who don't have any.
Empowering Mothers: Giving hardworking moms—many working as casual laborers, scrap collectors, and pig farmers—a safe place to leave their little ones while they earn a living.
Community Garden: Partnering with local mothers to farm our garden, increase our food supply, and nourish even more children.
It truly takes a village. Thank you to Small Steps Project and everyone in our community for standing with us in so many meaningful ways. Together, we are laying a solid foundation for the next generation! 🌱👣
