Yesterday, we had an incredible day hosting our 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Twala Women Cultural Boma, Ilpolei. The meeting brought together our conservancy members, community leaders, and partners to review our progress and set priorities for the coming year.
Members had the opportunity to engage with key presentations, including the 2024 General Programs Report, the 2024 Audited Financial Statements, and the Community Carbon Fund Review.
A major highlight of the AGM was the prioritization of 2025 Community Carbon Fund Projects. This year, Naibunga Upper Conservancy received an allocation of KES 22 million from the Northern Rangelands Trust through the Northern Rangelands Carbon Project (NRCP). During the meeting, community members endorsed the following projects for implementation with the 2025 carbon funds.
1️⃣🐘Conservancy Operations – KES 8 million
2️⃣💱Wakumbe Hills Tented Camp Establishment – KES 1.2 million
3️⃣💱 Ilpolei Tented Campsite Establishment – KES 2.5 million
4️⃣🏫Kurum Secondary School Teachers’ Quarters – KES 800,000
5️⃣👨🎓Student Education Bursaries – KES 3.3 million
6️⃣🏤Morupusi Community Land Office Repairs – KES 400,000
7️⃣ Rangelands restoration and management-KES 4.4 million
8️⃣👨⚖️Other Community Operations Cost – KES 500,000
These projects reflect our community’s collective vision for strengthening conservation, education, and sustainable livelihoods in our conservancy.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation🙏 to all our community members, friends, and partners who joined us for this important event. Special thanks to Laikipia Conservancies Association , Ol Jogi Wildlife Conservancy , Northern Rangelands Trust, local chiefs, and the Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Laikipia North for their continued collaboration and support.
We were especially honored by the presence of Dr. Rogers Lubilo, Director of Life Through Wildlife from Zambia, who joined us to grace the occasion and also learn from our Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) model and explore opportunities for partnership to further strengthen our conservancy’s governance and management.
Together, we can achieve strong community-led conservation through transparency, accountable leadership and good governance to impact peoples livelihoods and protect nature.
