The first stop of our Community Baraza series at Maraba happened today, and what a great start it was.

We were excited to see community members turn up, engage actively, and share how proud they are of the progress being made in their nurseries. From the continued support by Kiptapkei Environmental CBO and our partners Save the Children Kenya, members expressed gratitude and renewed commitment to making the project a success.

The session was highly interactive, with meaningful conversations on progress, challenges, and the way forward. This is just the beginning l, we’ll keep the conversations going as we continue empowering our communities, one baraza at a time.

Day 2 of our Token-Based Reward System capacity building was a success.

Today, we engaged the enthusiastic members of Taachasis SHG in Chepkunyuk Location together with members of Cheboin SHG in Mogobich Location. The excitement and willingness to learn from our community members were truly encouraging.

The training focused on helping members clearly understand how the token-based reward system works which is a unique approach that rewards participation in nursery activities and encourages commitment, accountability, and teamwork. Once members fully understand the system, earning and awarding tokens for activities such as seedling care, potting, watering, and other nursery tasks becomes much easier and more effective.

This is a continuous journey, and we are committed to reaching all our Self-Help Groups to ensure every member understands and benefits from this innovative system.

Today, we held a token-based reward system capacity building session at Mchanganyiko SHG and Koimur SHG in Nandi Hills Sub-County, bringing together members from Baracks, Mchanganyiko and Kipriria SHGs.

The training highlighted the importance of the token-based reward system in encouraging active participation, promoting accountability, and rewarding members for their efforts in activities such as tree nursery management, environmental conservation, and community engagement. It is a great way of motivating members while ensuring everyone plays their role in building stronger and more sustainable livelihoods.

We also had a benchmarking session at Koimur Nursery, where members from Karlel, Kongasis, Kolongei and Mogobich SHGs visited to learn best practices and exchange ideas. They left inspired and committed to implementing what they learned in their own nurseries.

When communities learn, support each other, and stay motivated, real change happens.

On this Labour Day 2026, we proudly join the nation in celebrating the resilience, dedication, and unwavering spirit of every worker who continues to shape our present and secure our future.
This year’s theme, “Strengthening Local Production and Protecting Workers' Rights,” speaks directly to the heart of our mission. At Kiptapkei Environmental CBO, we recognize that sustainable development is built on the strength of empowered communities—farmers nurturing the land, youth restoring ecosystems, and grassroots leaders driving change from within.
To our coordinators, field facilitators, smallholder farmers, and partners—your hands plant the trees that will outlive generations. Your efforts restore not only landscapes but dignity, livelihoods, and hope.
As we honor your contribution today, we reaffirm our commitment to creating opportunities that value your work, protect your rights, and uplift your livelihoods through climate resilience and environmental stewardship.
Let this day be a reminder that every seed planted, every effort made, and every challenge overcome is a step toward a greener, fairer, and more prosperous future for all.
Happy Labour Day 2026.
Together, we grow. Together, we sustain.

We had the pleasure of attending the AGM of Nandi Avocado Farmers Cooperative Society Limited at Lolduga Village, Lessos, Nandi-hills Sub-county. As Kiptapkei Environmental CBO, we are truly proud of the great strides and achievements the cooperative continues to make.

We closed the month of April on a high note at Mosine Catholic Church in Mosine Village, Chemomi Location, Nandi Hills Sub-County.

Our farmer engagement baraza brought together a strong turnout of farmers, and the conversations were lively, practical, and full of hope. We walked together through the Nandi Carbon Climate Resilience and Nutrition Project, highlighting simple but impactful opportunities like kitchen gardening and bee keeping.

What stood out most was the genuine interest from the farmers. Many are ready to come on board, eager to improve their livelihoods while building resilience in their homes and farms.

A big thank you to our field facilitator for the dedication and great work in mobilizing and enrolling farmers. Change begins, right at the community level, step by step.
