Greenway Elimu Foundation – Adopt a Community Initiative

On 17th May 2026, Greenway Elimu Foundation successfully conducted the Adopt a Community Initiative at London Slums in Nakuru. The event brought together volunteers, well-wishers, and community members with the shared goal of improving the lives of vulnerable children through education support, personal dignity, and environmental awareness.

The initiative focused on providing essential items to children and teenagers within the community, including sanitary pads, books, stationery, undergarments for both boys and girls, and other educational materials. A total of 70 beneficiaries were targeted, comprising 50 girls and 20 boys. These supplies were intended to reduce barriers to education, improve school attendance, and promote confidence among learners.

A key component of the project was menstrual hygiene management. By providing sanitary pads and creating awareness on menstrual health, the initiative sought to ensure that girls can attend school consistently and participate fully in their education without interruption. The distribution of books and stationery further supported academic success by equipping learners with the resources needed for their studies.

The event also incorporated a climate action and environmental sustainability component. Participants were sensitized on environmental conservation, the importance of maintaining clean surroundings, and the role communities can play in building a climate-resilient future. This aligns with Greenway Elimu Foundation’s mission of promoting both education and environmental stewardship under the slogan, “Learning for a Greener Future.”

The significance of the Adopt a Community Initiative extends beyond the distribution of supplies. It demonstrated the power of collective action in addressing social challenges and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting underserved communities. By investing in children's education, health, dignity, and environmental awareness, the project contributed to creating opportunities for a brighter and more sustainable future for the residents of London Slums.

Greenway Elimu Foundation expresses its sincere appreciation to all donors, volunteers, partners, and supporters whose contributions made the initiative a success. Their generosity and commitment continue to transform lives and inspire hope within the community.

On March 24, 2026, we conducted the 3rd outreach visit at Limuko Primary & Secondary Schools, Kabatini, in partnership with Rotaract Nakuru Region and Worldserve International.
The program focused on menstrual hygiene and mental health, with students receiving sanitary towels and engaging in impactful training sessions. Notably, the pads provided were biodegradable, promoting both girls’ health and environmental sustainability 🌍.
As the environmental partner, Greenway Elimu Foundation led the Green Schools component, educating learners on climate change and engaging them in hands-on conservation activities. A key highlight was involving the ECD learners (ages 3–6), who actively participated in tree planting, nurturing a culture of environmental stewardship from an early age 🌱.
This initiative reflects our commitment to education, health, and sustainability—building empowered, informed, and environmentally conscious communities.

A day of color, culture, and unity!

From inspiring performances to meaningful conversations, the festival showcased the strength and potential of young people in shaping a peaceful Kenya. It was a reminder that peace is not an abstract idea—it is built through engagement, creativity, and collective action.

Greenway Elimu Foundation, in partnership with Nailepu Counseling Services, carried out a community outreach visit to a children’s home in Nakuru. The joint initiative aimed to extend compassion, promote mental well-being, and support the holistic growth of children in care.

During the visit, the team donated essential items including foodstuffs, clothing, and sanitary pads for the girls, ensuring both their physical nourishment and dignity needs were met. Beyond material support, the day featured engaging activities such as live art painting and indoor games, designed to foster creativity, teamwork, and emotional expression among the children.

The collaboration also created a safe and open environment where children could interact freely, building trust and positive relationships with mentors and counselors. This aligns with Greenway Elimu Foundation’s mission of nurturing education, emotional health, and sustainability through community-driven programs.

This initiative was vital in addressing both the immediate and long-term needs of vulnerable children. It enhanced their sense of belonging and emotional stability while promoting mental wellness—an area often overlooked in children’s homes. Additionally, by incorporating art and play, the program encouraged psychosocial development and self-expression, key aspects of a child’s learning and resilience.

Through this activity, Greenway Elimu Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to education, mental health awareness, and social empowerment, laying the foundation for a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Greenway Elimu Foundation partnered with the Rotaract Club of Bahati for a tree-planting activity on Mazingira Day along the West Acre River in Nakuru, as part of efforts to restore the degraded riparian ecosystem. Over 2,000 trees were planted, marking a significant step toward riverbank restoration and community-led climate action.

We were delighted to see the active participation of young people, students, and community members, all coming together with a shared vision of protecting the environment. Their enthusiasm and commitment reflected the growing awareness among the youth about their critical role in shaping a sustainable future.

For Greenway Elimu Foundation, this initiative reaffirms our commitment to climate action, environmental restoration, and community empowerment. By engaging schools and local communities in such practical conservation efforts, we continue to promote education for sustainability — nurturing a generation that values nature and takes responsibility for a greener and healthier planet.

🌿 Greenway Elimu Foundation at Peace in Color Fest 2025 🎨☮️

Greenway Elimu Foundation was honored to be among the partners of the Peace in Color Fest, a vibrant event organized by the Rotaract Kenya Peace Campaign in collaboration with the County Government of Nakuru and other incredible partners.

The festival brought together over 300 young people — creatives, peace advocates, and partners — for a day filled with spoken word, live music, art exhibitions, live painting, storytelling, and an inspiring panel discussion on Peace, Mental Health, Drug Addiction, and Tourism. It was a day where art met advocacy — and where young people took center stage to express themselves freely, share their creativity, and inspire action toward peace.

The impact was profound. The event gave young people a platform to express, connect, and collaborate, fostering conversations on mental health, youth inclusion, and peacebuilding. It showcased how creativity can be used as a powerful tool for dialogue and social change.

Ephantus Mwai, our Founder — who also serves as the Chairperson of the Rotaract Kenya Peace Campaign — shared, “Peace cannot be built by silence; it is built by participation, inclusion, and purpose.” The youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow — they are the drivers of peace today.

At Greenway Elimu Foundation, we believe in nurturing these spaces where young voices lead conversations of change — because a peaceful, creative, and empowered generation is the foundation of a thriving community. 🌍✨
