As we marked the 20th anniversary of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month on 28th March 2026, We brought together children with cerebral palsy and their caregivers for a one-day Shamiri Initiative centered on care, connection, and mental wellness.
The day was a reminder that awareness must translate into meaningful support, inclusion, and dignity for every family.
Through art, play, mindfulness, and shared experiences, children engaged freely while caregivers found space to connect, reflect, and feel supported strengthening a sense of community and collective voice.
This impact was made possible through collaboration. We are grateful to;
SCANN - Street Children's Assistance for Nakuru Networks who ensured participants were nourished with refreshments and snacks and supported with food hampers, Psychosocial Development and Response Organisation for facilitating therapeutic sessions, Art For Children Foundation for leading art therapy, Faraja Initiative Organization for providing a comfortable and structured environment, Comfort Christian schools for hosting and supporting inclusivity, and Worldwide Travel Options for enabling the smooth delivery of the event through financial and logistical support.
As we reflect on 20 years of awareness, we are choosing action, building networks, amplifying lived experiences, and creating inclusive spaces where every child and caregiver belongs.
