The Floods Aftermath Clean-Up in Kihoto was successfully carried out, bringing together community members, partners, and volunteers committed to restoring a clean and safe environment.
Under the theme Climate Change Disaster Management and Preparedness Awareness, we came together at Kihoto Football Ground and took action clearing waste, unblocking drainage areas, and educating residents on the importance of environmental responsibility.
This was more than just a clean-up exercise. It was a strong statement that as a community, we are ready to respond to the effects of climate change and protect our neighborhoods from future disasters.
A big thank you to all partners, volunteers, and stakeholders who showed up and showed commitment. Your effort, energy, and unity made this initiative a success. 💚

COAST EMPIRE CBO CLEAN-UP DRIVE – KIHOTO

Coast Empire Community Based Organization invites all members, partners, and community volunteers to join us for a Clean-Up Exercise in Kihoto as we respond to the floods aftermath and promote a clean and healthy environment.

This activity is part of our commitment to Climate Change Disaster Management and Preparedness Awareness, aimed at restoring dignity, protecting public health, and strengthening community resilience.

On 29th December, we gathered at Kihoto Grounds for another impactful community outreach, this time standing with street mothers and children. This followed our earlier engagement where we supported elderly men, marking yet another step in our ongoing series of dignity-restoration initiatives.
On this day, we offered warm clothing, shared meals, free haircuts, and genuine human connection. Beyond material support, we listened, encouraged, and reminded our people that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.
To everyone who donated, volunteered, and showed up with love and purpose thank you. Together, we are building a culture of care, dignity, and community solidarity.

Through our Restoring Dignity initiative, we reached 30 needy families, offering warm clothing, free haircuts, and most importantly human connection.
For vulnerable people displaced by the Lake Naivasha floods, today was not just about material support, but about being seen, respected, and valued. A clean shave, a warm smile, and a listening ear went a long way in restoring confidence and dignity.
We remain committed to standing with the vulnerable in our community and turning compassion into action. Every small effort counts, and today proved that love shared multiplies.

Flooding in Kihoto continues to expose gaps in disaster preparedness, public communication, and humanitarian response. Community leaders and residents have launched a media and support campaign calling for transparency, accountability, and urgent intervention to protect families at risk. The initiative also includes a Fund Drive aimed at supporting displaced households and strengthening locally driven solutions.

Kihoto is facing two crises:
the floods on the ground and the silence in government offices.
To date, the County cannot account for its disaster kitty, and the National Ministry of Special Programmes has done nothing meaningful for affected families.

But while leaders hide behind bureaucracy, we will not watch our people suffer.

We are launching the Kihoto Flooding Fund Drive to support displaced families with food, bedding, clothing, medical care and temporary shelter.
Every contribution restores hope and dignity.
