Meet Steve, a grade 9 student, a young artist in the Nane Experience after-school program whose talent is undeniable! He recently surprised Nane founder, Shadrack, with a portrait, saying: "Shaddy, nimekuchora huyu ni wewe" (Shaddy, I’ve drawn you; this is you).

Though our current art classes are basic, Steve’s dedication is on another level. We want to give him—and others like him—the mentorship they deserve. We are looking to link Steve with art professionals or find a volunteer art teacher to help sharpen these creative young minds. If you’re committed to the arts and want to make a difference, please let us know!

Monday: held by Nane Experience.

We wanted to have a back to school party for children, and prepare them for the next term since they have been home for 3 weeks.

We celebrated the day with children in our programs, both in dance, art and a feeding programe - the main thing was to just prepare them for the next term and success and engagement in school.

20 years ago exactly, I travelled to Kenya for the first time on a once in a lifetime, bucket list Safari and beach holiday. An accident led to me getting stranded and yet in that short time, it completely transformed my life.
In the months that followed, I ended up meeting a kindred spirit in Magadi, Kajiado County and started to help a small community with a school. This springboarded to a 20 year journey in Kenya and on reaching twenty years I have released a book that tells the story of those twenty years.

It is available on Amazon (including free on Kindle Unlimited) - https://amzn.eu/d/01DrDIWx

I have also started to serialise the book as a podcast, which is available for FREE through the following link - https://creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/an-ordinary-story/

I hope that you enjoy.

It’s been a fabulous week at An Ordinary Place with Kibera SLUM TOURS KE / Nane Experience.

First of all, dinner prepared for over 100 children. Thankful to those that made this happen. Kindness truly can make a difference.
