🌍 Advancing global collaboration through education

In June, CINP was proud to be represented at the African College of Neuropsychopharmacology (AfCNP) School on Precision Neuropsychopharmacology and Brain Health, held at the Aga Khan University Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

Prof. Joseph Zohar, Chair of the CINP Education Committee, delivered the Dan Stein Memorial Lecture, entitled NbN and Precision in the Treatment of Psychiatric Disorders, sharing insights into precision approaches that continue to shape the future of neuropsychopharmacology.

The AfCNP School brought together clinicians, researchers, and early career professionals for an outstanding programme dedicated to scientific exchange, education, and collaboration. Events such as these play a vital role in strengthening international partnerships and advancing better brain and mental health care across the globe.

We thank our colleagues at AfCNP for their warm hospitality and for organizing such an inspiring educational initiative. CINP looks forward to continuing our collaboration in support of excellence in science, education, and patient care worldwide.

Coming soon: the third cohort of the Neuropsychopharmacology Training Programme for Early- and Mid-Career African Researchers, scheduled to take place from June 7–12, 2026, at the Aga Khan University Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

Hosted by the African College of Neuropsychopharmacology, this intensive week-long programme will convene over 25 early- and mid-career professionals from across Africa, including neuroscientists, psychiatrists, neurologists, pharmacologists, clinical psychologists, and other mental health researchers and practitioners.

The programme is designed to strengthen research capacity, promote interdisciplinary and continental collaboration, and equip participants with contemporary, cutting-edge research skills and professional networks necessary to address Africa’s evolving mental health and brain health challenges through precision neuropsychopharmacology and evidence-based practice.

Participants will benefit from expert-led lectures, mentorship engagements, peer-to-peer learning, research presentations, and professional development sessions aimed at nurturing the next generation of African leaders in neuroscience, psychiatry, and mental health research.

The programme is organized by the African College of Neuropsychopharmacology in collaboration with the AKU Brain & Mind Institute and the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology

We look forward to another impactful training experience as we continue advancing scientific excellence, collaboration, and leadership in neuropsychopharmacology and brain health research across Africa.

The African College of Neuropsychopharmacology (AfCNP) School on Precision Neuropsychopharmacology and Brain Health is now accepting applications from early-career scientists and researchers (within 5 years of completing a postgraduate degree), postgraduate students, and trainees in Neuroscience, Mental Health, Psychiatry, Psychology, Neurology, and Pharmacology from any African country.

🗓 School dates: 7–13 June 2026
📍 Location: The Aga Khan University Centre, Nairobi, Kenya

This fully funded, 1-week program will feature intensive lectures by distinguished international faculty, along with participant-led sessions, offering a comprehensive approach to deepen your knowledge and expertise in Neuropsychopharmacology and Brain Health.
The course will explore Precision Neuropsychopharmacology and Brain Health, focusing on the latest advancements and cutting-edge research in the field.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Prof. Dan J. Stein, the founder and first President of AfCNP.
His visionary leadership and dedication to advancing mental health and neuropsychopharmacology have shaped our community in lasting ways.
We honour his legacy and the profound impact he made on African and global science.
