The Fleischer Foundation seeks to empower underprivileged children in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya through mentorship and education.

On November 24th, our sponsored students Lucy, Feiruz, Michael, Shem, and Wesley were accepted into Anjarwalla & Khanna’s one-week work experience program. A&K is one of Kenya’s leading law firms and the largest law firm in East Africa.

This program is all about learning, personal growth, and hands-on exposure to real-world legal situations. As recent high school graduates, this was the perfect opportunity for them to see what the real world is all about!

We are incredibly proud of them, wish them well for their upcoming university journey, and thank A&K for seeing the potential in these 5 extraordinary children from our Foundation.

Our Director of Student Development, Angela Hashisoma, visited Fair Oak Primary School, Kwa Reuben Primary School, and Gramo Joy Primary School in the Nairobi environs of Mukuru kwa Njenga and Mukuru kwa Reuben. This visit officially opened the application process for The Fleischer Foundation’s Annual Scholarships.

Successful applicants will have their high school and university tuition paid in full. These students will also receive access to our mentorship programs.

The same applications have also been submitted to Naro Muru Primary School and Kiserian Primary School in Kajiado County continuing our mission to open doors of opportunity for bright young minds from underserved communities.

This week, The Fleischer Foundation partnered with Chimneys for Africa whose mission is to reduce the harmful effects of indoor smoke inhalation. Their research has shown that over 3.2 million lives are lost in Africa due to cooking over fires. To solve this problem, they designed a simple, effective, and culturally consonant chimney that can be installed in rural homes.

The Fleischer Foundation assisted them to identify 10 deserving & underprivileged households in Kipeto, Kajiado County. Yesterday, 10 chimneys were successfully installed and the impact is already visible. These families now have smoke-free homes thereby creating a healthier & safer environment to live in. 🌍💙

A huge thank you to founders David Baulis & Natasha Baulis for their dedication to improving lives, and to the Kipeto community for welcoming us so warmly.

In anticipation of our friends from visiting Kenya, The Fleischer Foundation hosted 10 of its sponsored university students for a brainstorming session. During the 90 minute meeting, the students prepared a PowerPoint presentation about all things Kenya. We are excited to present this to the visiting students from Syracuse later this month and will share photos of the session when we do!

It’s that time of the year again - Exam Time! Our Director for Student Development visited our 6 feeder primary schools to wish the 8th graders luck on their upcoming national exams. We also handed out application forms for our scholarship program. We are looking forward to welcoming our next cohort of students who will be fully sponsored to high school and university!
