What research says about kindness

Scientific studies broadly support the idea that small acts of kindness have measurable psychological benefits.

Dear family,

This is a beautiful act of love. My daughter Martha will be turning 11 years old, and she has chosen to dedicate her birthday to helping her dear friend Mercy, who is currently hospitalized.

Martha hopes to raise $300 to support Mercy’s treatment and care. Instead of receiving gifts, she is asking for your kindness and support to help her friend heal.

We kindly invite you to join Martha in making this heartfelt wish come true. Your support no matter the amount will make a meaningful difference.

You can donate via: PayPal.me/harperchild

Happy birthday Martha

Thank you for your compassion and continued support. God bless you.

🎙️ My First Podcast is Finally Live

Today, I’m stepping into something new…

I’ve just released the first episode of the Smart Child Kenya Podcast

“Becoming the Beth I Never Had.”

This episode is not just a story… it’s my journey.

I share why I started Smart Child Kenya, and how I made a decision to become the person I needed most growing up someone who listens, protects, and stands for girls and women whose voices are often unheard.

This podcast will be a space for:
✨ Healing
✨ Real conversations
✨ Empowerment
✨ And stories that matter

If you believe in a world where every girl has a voice, every woman has dignity, and every child is protected — this podcast is for you.

“Doing the Small Things…”

It seems that nowadays, everyone wants to do the “big things” so that everyone will know “who does it!”

But the “eyes of Jesus” see the smallest things, and they are “magnified” in the eyes of Jesus!

In Mark 12:42-44, Jesus has been sitting in the Temple, watching the people cast in money into the treasury. His eyes were on the rich, how they cast in their gifts from their wealth; then came a poor widow, who humbly in cast in two mites, a farthing. He has told His disciples that “she had given more”… because the sacrifice is determined by “how much you have left” after you give…

“For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want, (need), did cast in all that she had, even all her living.” Jesus understands sacrifice.

He “gave all,” for us.

ALCOHOL AND ARVS – SAFE OR RISKY?

Many people wonder if alcohol and Antiretroviral therapy can mix. The truth? Moderate alcohol doesn’t stop ARVs from working, but excess drinking can be harmful. It may lead to missed doses, worsen side effects, and strain your liver. The real danger isn’t the alcohol itself, it’s losing consistency with your medication.

Staying on track daily is what keeps the virus suppressed and your health stable. So if you drink, do it wisely and responsibly.

URGENT MEDICAL REQUEST

This Easter Sunday is a dark one for us.
A 4-year-old boy was found near our center, badly injured and bleeding. We believe he was beaten and abandoned. The situation is very serious.

I cannot share the photo because it is too disturbing.
Right now, he urgently needs emergency medical attention.
We are doing everything we can, but we need immediate support to take him to hospital and cover treatment.
Please stand with us in this moment. Your support could save his life. We target $350-$500 for medication .

Smart Child Kenya safe space is full of GBV & FGM affected. In every 3 women 1 is a victim. Let raise hour voice and say no to GBV. Let us be our sister's keeper.

Gender-Based Violence is not a “women’s issue.” It is a public health crisis, a human rights violation, and a reflection of gaps in our social systems.

As a health science professional, I have learned that violence does not end with physical harm,it extends to mental trauma, chronic illness, broken families, and weakened communities. GBV silently affects productivity, emotional wellbeing, and even future generations.

We cannot normalize it. We cannot stay silent.

Prevention starts with us:
• Educating ourselves and others
• Promoting emotional intelligence and healthy conflict resolution
• Supporting survivors without judgment
• Holding perpetrators accountable
• Building communities where respect is non-negotiable

To the men: strength is not dominance.it’s discipline, respect, and self-control.
To the women: your voice matters, your safety matters, YOU matter.

Let’s shift from awareness to action. Because a safer society is a healthier society.
