CONIFA AFRICA FOOTBALL JAMBOREE: NAIROBI 11th – 16th AUGUST 2026

CONIFA – The Confederation of Independent Football Associations, is a global non-profit organization representing football teams from unrecognized states, ethnic groups and minority regions boasting over 50-members. CONIFA provides a platform for teams’ ineligible for FIFA to compete internationally thus fostering cultural pride and resilience, providing visibility to regions not fully recognized on the world stage. CONIFA operates with a mix of semi-professional and local teams, emphasizing that football belongs to everyone

Earlier in the year KENYA became the newest member country to affiliate to join the CONIFA family and soon thereafter registered interest to host the CONIFA Africa Football Jamboree, a historic celebration of football, culture, inclusion, and dignity.

ABOUT THE JAMBOREE

It will be a weeklong extravaganza bringing together five (5) countries for a weeklong football engagement featuring 5-tournaments all held simultaneously;

a) Men’s Cup
b) Women’s Cup
c) Refugee Tournament
d) No limit Amputee Tournament
e) Youth Exhibition

REFUGEE TOURNAMENT – new inclusion

Following the inclusion of the Refugee Tournament, CONIFA Africa will lead a Tree Planting Initiative, with a minimum of 1,000 trees planted in and around host communities. For refugees, many of whom have lost homes, land, and roots; planting trees is deeply symbolic. Each tree planted will represent renewal, stability, and a future restored. the Refugee Tournament stands as a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and belonging.

KENYA bid to host the Jamboree received unequivocal support from CONIFA Africa President, Mr. Ngala Maimo Wajiri based in Cameroon and Global President, Mr. Per-Anders Blind based at CONIFA Headquarters in Sweden. Ni-Wakati Sports Africa, Kenyan based Organization is the anchor behind CONIFA. Forever grateful to its Director, Mr. Steve Muturi whose energy and synergy remains at 150%

Kiambu County Government have formally endorsed CONIFA partnership as the host county providing venues, event facilities (permits, ambulances et al) whilst Kenyatta University, Kenya’s premier university offering Sports based curriculum will be on-board offering event volunteers. We thank you! We shall reach out to the Ministry of Sports, Department of Refugee Services (DRS) under Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Corporates and stakeholders in sports eco-system – all to make the event a success and position KENYA to the world as one of Africa’s sporting nations.

Our commitment does not end at the final whistle. Healing people and healing the planet must go hand in hand.

KIAMBU COUNTY FAMILY FUN RUN - “RUN FOR DIABETES”- THANK YOU FOR PARTNERSHIP & COLLABORATION

Ahsante sana Kiambu County leadership through the Department of youth affairs, sports and communication for on-boarding the following partners;

1. Henry Wanyoike Foundation
2. Ni-Wakati Sports Africa
3. FARIJI CBO
4. Kenya Jump Rope Federation

Diabetes burden in Kiambu County remains high largely linked to low physical activity. As partners, our mission remains to use sports as the “glue” that “fuels” community health conversations.

Did you know that thirty (30) minutes of brisk walk 5-times a day could reduce diabetes risk, high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases?

The next edition of Kiambu County Family Fun Run will be BIGGER and BETTER!

KIAMBU COUNTY FAMILY FUN RUN – 04th APRIL 2026

With a population of 2.7 million (2024), Kiambu County is the 2nd most populous county and the 3rd largest economy by Nominal Gross County Product (GDP) estimated at 6.6 Billion (2023). Socially, its maternal mortality is the 2nd lowest nationally, 2nd highest life expectancy for females (72 years) nationally and 2nd highest countrywide (93%) in literacy rate.

Kiambu County faces a high burden of diabetes often linked to low physical activity. With over 50,000 residents managed for diabetes and hypertension. The county has set-up 46 specialized Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’s) link facilities for decentralized accessible care.

Diabetes is a chronic, metabolic disease characterized by elevated levels of blood glucose (or blood sugar), which leads over time to serious damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and nerves. Four (4) common types of Diabetes include (a) Type 1 Diabetes (b) Type 2 Diabetes (c) Gestational Diabetes and (d) Maturity Onset diabetes of the young – MODY. Diabetes mostly occurs in four stages: Insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes and type 2 diabetes with vascular complications.

“RUN AGAINST DIABETES”
Exercises make insulin work better in the body, which helps people with diabetes keep their blood sugar levels in a healthier range.
FARIJI in partnership with Kiambu County (Department of youth affairs, sports and communication) and other stakeholders have organized a Family Fun Run from Tigoni (10km) to Ndumberi Stadium. We shall also have a 5km and a 2Km. The skaters and cyclists shall be there too. We appreciate that sports cuts across age, gender, religion and even social status!

DIABETES HEALTH TENT – NDUMBERI STADIUM

The highlight of the Family Fun Run will be the Diabetes health tents that will be set up at the stadium. Free checks will be conducted as well as health talks. It will be a family affair!
