CONIFA AFRICA FOOTBALL JAMBOREE: NAIROBI 11th – 16th AUGUST 2026
CONIFA – The Confederation of Independent Football Associations, is a global non-profit organization representing football teams from unrecognized states, ethnic groups and minority regions boasting over 50-members. CONIFA provides a platform for teams’ ineligible for FIFA to compete internationally thus fostering cultural pride and resilience, providing visibility to regions not fully recognized on the world stage. CONIFA operates with a mix of semi-professional and local teams, emphasizing that football belongs to everyone
Earlier in the year KENYA became the newest member country to affiliate to join the CONIFA family and soon thereafter registered interest to host the CONIFA Africa Football Jamboree, a historic celebration of football, culture, inclusion, and dignity.
ABOUT THE JAMBOREE
It will be a weeklong extravaganza bringing together five (5) countries for a weeklong football engagement featuring 5-tournaments all held simultaneously;
a) Men’s Cup
b) Women’s Cup
c) Refugee Tournament
d) No limit Amputee Tournament
e) Youth Exhibition
REFUGEE TOURNAMENT – new inclusion
Following the inclusion of the Refugee Tournament, CONIFA Africa will lead a Tree Planting Initiative, with a minimum of 1,000 trees planted in and around host communities. For refugees, many of whom have lost homes, land, and roots; planting trees is deeply symbolic. Each tree planted will represent renewal, stability, and a future restored. the Refugee Tournament stands as a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and belonging.
KENYA bid to host the Jamboree received unequivocal support from CONIFA Africa President, Mr. Ngala Maimo Wajiri based in Cameroon and Global President, Mr. Per-Anders Blind based at CONIFA Headquarters in Sweden. Ni-Wakati Sports Africa, Kenyan based Organization is the anchor behind CONIFA. Forever grateful to its Director, Mr. Steve Muturi whose energy and synergy remains at 150%
Kiambu County Government have formally endorsed CONIFA partnership as the host county providing venues, event facilities (permits, ambulances et al) whilst Kenyatta University, Kenya’s premier university offering Sports based curriculum will be on-board offering event volunteers. We thank you! We shall reach out to the Ministry of Sports, Department of Refugee Services (DRS) under Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Corporates and stakeholders in sports eco-system – all to make the event a success and position KENYA to the world as one of Africa’s sporting nations.
Our commitment does not end at the final whistle. Healing people and healing the planet must go hand in hand.
