We ensure full adherence to the legal and regulatory requirements necessary for the operation as a CBO while comply according with all the relevant agencies at National and County Government into maintaining the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and ethical practices.

Ensuring HIV Prevention and Support During the Pandemic: IBO CBO’s Resilient Outreach

Throughout the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, IBO CBO remained steadfast in its mission to empower marginalized communities with vital HIV prevention education and emotional support. In 2021, despite the global health crisis, we adapted our outreach methods to continue providing essential services while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all participants.

By hosting outdoor sessions and embracing socially distanced gatherings, we reached key populations and ensured that our HIV prevention and mental health education remained accessible. Our dedicated team of trained peer educators and health professionals, equipped with PPE, stayed on the front-lines, offering crucial information, prevention tools, and psycho-social support. We also leveraged virtual platforms to ensure that health advocacy continued to thrive, even in the face of unprecedented challenges.

Together, we emphasized the importance of staying informed, practicing self-care, and supporting one another through these trying times. Our collective efforts ensured that the pandemic didn’t halt progress in HIV prevention, mental health support, and community engagement.

1. Adapting to Challenges: Ensuring HIV Prevention During COVID-19

During this 2023 workshop, participants were able to freely discuss their challenges and experiences regarding health, stigma, and access to services. By creating a safe space for these conversations, we are empowering individuals to take control of their health and advocate for their rights. 1. Empowering the Youth through Health Education

In 2023, we had the privilege of engaging with young people from marginalized communities in a hands-on health education workshop. The session focused on HIV prevention, mental health awareness, and building strong, informed leaders within their communities. These youth are the future change makers, and through this program, they are not only learning about health but also about the power of advocacy and leadership.

Participated in a NASCOP meeting on the review of Key Population training manuals for a five-day workshop in Nakuru, we focused on updating and aligning Peer Educator manuals for key populations. These manuals will be instrumental in guiding outreach activities done by peer educators towards addressing HIV prevention , mental health, and gender-based violence at the community level. Together, we are building a resilient and informed community, prepared to tackle these challenges head-on.
