As we mark World , we embrace the beauty of neurodiversity. Let's celebrate the uniqueness of every individual.
This year’s theme, “Autism and Humanity — Every Life Has Value,” reminds us that every autistic person deserves respect, dignity, and opportunity.

It's # CerebralPalsyAwarenessMonth!
Globally, approximately 18 million people live with Cerebral Palsy (CP), with 8,000 to 10,000 infants diagnosed annually. While comprehensive data is lacking for Africa, studies suggest the prevalence is significantly higher than the global average.

RAISING CHILDREN WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES

This is the real-life journey of families raising children with intellectual disabilities. They open up about the everyday difficulties. Caring for a child with intellectual disabilities comes with deep love and a weight many will never see.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Awareness Month is observed every October.

Nearly 100 million people worldwide can benefit from using augmentative and alternative communication.

There are diverse causes for why someone might need to use AAC, but what matters is the solution.

AAC includes speech-generating assistive devices (e.g., phone or tablets with language software) as well as using non-speech forms of communication such as gestures, facial expressions, eye gaze, symbol boards).

Not everyone communicates in the same way, but communication is a human right and essential to being included in the community.

Under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Article 2 recognises augmentative and alternative modes as communication; Article 21 requires States to facilitate AAC and other accessible modes of a person’s choice.

Remember—inclusive communication is effective communication.
