Earlier this week, our deputy executive director Waitherero Kariuki i had the opportunity to participate and represent Alternatives Africa in the Youth Agripreneurship Stakeholders Dialogue Forum at Iconic Plaza, hosted by Youth Fund Kenya The event brought together stakeholders committed to strengthening the role of young people in agribusiness.
The dialogue was a timely reminder that youth participation in agriculture must go beyond production. We need to create opportunities across the entire agricultural value chain from access to finance, inputs and technology, to processing, aggregation, logistics, markets, value addition and trade.
For young agripreneurs to thrive, we must strengthen the ecosystem around them by connecting youth, financial institutions, government, private sector, development partners, technology providers and markets.
As Alternatives Africa, we remain committed to contributing to an ecosystem where young entrepreneurs are not viewed merely as beneficiaries of agricultural programmes, but as entrepreneurs, investors, innovators and key players in Africa's food and economic systems.
