hallenges like poverty, sanitation problems, HIV/AIDS, lack of opportunity of education, domestic violence, crime, drug abuse and prostitution.
As growing up in Mukuru, we realized the importance of a community movement to address some of the issues faced by our peers, and other residents. Therefor we founded Fanaka arts project. We wanted to give back to the community we love and is proud of. We wanted to give the children an opputinity to have a place where they could come and train acrobatic and other related skills. As an option instead of hanging around in the streets being idol and exposed to negative peerpresure and engaged in crime or drugs. We wanted to make a peacefull environment for the children and the youth. Give them a possibility to meet a mentor they can look up to and grown ups there can be role models for them. A place where they feel that they have a voice and feel that they are important. In acrobatic everybody is depending on eachother and everybody plays a part. in Fanaka the children are allowed to have dreams and visions for their life, they are met with motivation and support.
