THEY KILLED ME MOTHER
Mother, can you hear the whispers in the wind?
A story of my sorrow and sacrifice,
In our own Kenyan land where hope seemed to rescind,
I stood, a Gen Z warrior in the fight,
Against the government that shadows our light.
I died, Mother, while bravely standing tall,
For the dreams we held, for justice, for all Kenyans.
With each step, I carried your love, your pride,
In the face of Police’s oppression, I would not hide.
The streets were our battleground, harsh and grim,
With every teargas, water canons mama
Optimistic of freedom, of rights, of a future bright,
But the darkness came, with that bullet in my chest.
Mother, I fell, my body broken, my spirit strong,
In the struggle, in the strife, where the truth should come out.
The finance bill, that came to finish us,
I gave my life mama , hoping we'd win this fight .
But now, in the stillness of the night,
Do you feel my presence, do you see my ghost at night?
My comrades, those brave souls left behind,
Are hunted, tortured, by those DCI officers.
DCI’s shadow looms, dark and cold,
Abducting the voices, keyboard warriors, innocent protestors ma.
Mother, our brothers, and sisters weep but united,
In cells where nightmares and fear creep.
But, Mother, let not my death be in vain,
For in our blood, in our veins,
Flows the strength of generations past,
A legacy of young Gen Z resilience, to last.
Speak of me, in noise and cries,
Of a son who stood, who dared to go,
Against the tide, against the night,
For the promise of free country, for what is right.
Hold my memory in your heart,
For even in death, we are never apart.
Your tears, a testament of love,
A beacon to the heavens above.
Mother, I died, but my spirit soars,
In the fight for justice, forevermore.
In your sorrow, find strength anew,
For the battle is not over, until freedom breaks through.
I leave you with my undying love,
A guardian angel from above.
In every protest, in every chant,
Feel my presence, in every rant.
Dear mother
Don't worry about my burial
My comrades will sort it
Tell your peers to reject this bill
I will haunt the government officers
I will come back mama.
