Building a circular economy takes more than ambition, it takes action, accountability and collaboration. At PAKPRO, we work alongside producers, recyclers, waste recovery partners, and communities to ensure packaging is responsibly managed throughout its lifecycle. Through Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), we are helping drive sustainable packaging recovery, strengthen recycling systems, and create lasting environmental impact.

Our CEO, Joyce Gachugi-Waweru, joined private sector leaders at the 11th Our Ocean Conference (OOC) high-level pre-conference strategy meeting hosted by Hon. Hassan Joho EGH, Cabinet Secretary for Blue Economy and Fisheries, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Upperhill Nairobi.

The engagement provided a vital platform to rally the private sector ahead of the global forum scheduled for 14th–18th June. We are proud to be part of this landmark initiative as Kenya prepares to host the OOC, unlocking opportunities to position our brand on the international stage, engage with global investors and policymakers, showcase innovations, and forge strategic partnerships in the blue economy.

The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretaries Ms. Betsy Njagi CBS (Blue Economy and Fisheries), Mr. Harry Kimtai (Mining), and Mr. Aden Millah (Maritime Affairs and Shipping). The meeting also underscored Kenya’s growing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and responsible economic growth within the blue economy space

PAKPRO Kenya proudly joined a community clean-up and tree planting initiative organised by Green Shift for Development in Kibra, where community organisations, waste recovery groups, and environmental champions came together to clean Toi Market and plant trees at Toi Primary School. The initiative highlighted the power of collaboration in creating cleaner and healthier communities, with participation from groups including JIRANI RECYCLERS KENYA, Kosovo Waste Pickers, Kibera Local Climate Forum, Growth Grove Organisation, Nexus of Caregivers, Agriventures Moments, and Whispers Champions Youth Initiative. As part of our commitment to safe and sustainable environmental practices, PAKPRO supported the activity by providing PPEs to protect waste workers and volunteers on the frontlines of environmental management. Together, we continue building cleaner communities and a more sustainable future for all.

♻️🌍 Day 3 of the Regional Learning Exchange, proudly sponsored by Tetra Pak, saw PAKPRO engage with two pioneering South African recyclers and manufacturers driving innovation in the circular economy.
Our first stop was Cycliq Pty, a Johannesburg-based company transforming 100% recycled plastic and PolyAl from liquid board packaging into durable, fully recyclable products for the logistics, construction, and automotive sectors. Their impressive range includes plastic pallets, cable drums, bed frames, modular flooring, furniture, and wheel chocks - all designed to extend material life cycles while reducing waste.
The team then visited the award-winning Infinite Industries in Brakpan, Gauteng, founded by the visionary Maggie Bozic Infante. The company is redefining waste through innovative solutions that convert PolyAl and other difficult-to-recycle materials into eco-boards, roofing sheets, school furniture, sanitation facilities, low-cost housing solutions, recycled plastic manholes, and functional art pieces. Infinite Industries is renowned for transforming waste into luxury interior and public design applications, including installations at Nelson Mandela Square - a powerful demonstration of how circular economy innovation can reshape public spaces and communities.
These visits highlighted the immense potential of African-led recycling innovation in creating sustainable products, generating economic value, and advancing a more circular future.
