🌍♻️ PAKPRO APPOINTED TO THE NPAP KENYA STEERING BOARD

PAKPRO has been appointed to the Kenya National Plastics Action Partnership (NPAP Kenya) Steering Board, following a nomination by United Nations Development Programme - UNDP Kenya. PAKPRO will be represented by Joyce Gachugi -Waweru, Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

What is NPAP Kenya?
The Plastics Action Partnership ( Kenya) is a nationally owned platform that brings together government, the private sector, civil society, researchers, innovators and development partners to tackle plastic pollution through collective action. As part of the World Economic Forum’s Global Plastic Action Partnership ( ), it supports Kenya in turning commitments on plastic pollution into practical, coordinated solutions.

The NPAP Kenya Steering Board provides strategic direction towards building a circular, inclusive and sustainable plastics economy — one where plastic is designed, used, collected and recycled to remain in the economy and out of the environment.

As Kenya’s Packaging Producer Responsibility Organisation, PAKPRO brings valuable experience in post-consumer packaging recovery, working with producers, aggregators, waste pickers and other waste management actors across the country.

Through this appointment, PAKPRO looks forward to contributing to collaborative efforts that advance Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), strengthen recycling systems and accelerate action against plastic pollution in Kenya.

We’re excited to announce that PAKPRO has moved to a new digital system, MyPAKPRO, making producer membership simpler, faster and more connected.

This is more than a new platform. It is part of our journey to build a more efficient, technology-enabled PAKPRO that is better equipped to serve producers and strengthen the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility.

Through MyPAKPRO, producer members can manage their membership, maintain their company and packaging information, upload documents, complete EPR declarations, track submissions and access relevant certificates—all through one platform.

As we grow, technology will continue to be a central focus for PAKPRO: helping us improve producer member experience, strengthen data and reporting, increase transparency and build more efficient recovery systems.

Partnerships that protect what matters. 🌱🌊

At PAKPRO, we believe producer responsibility goes beyond managing packaging after use. It is about supporting practical action that keeps our communities clean, protects ecosystems and builds a more resilient future.

Through the Blue Carbon Action Legacy Project, PAKPRO who were represented by Mercy Muriithi, Project Officer, is proud to support community clean-up activities and mangrove restoration, working alongside Twende Green Planet, the Municipality of Mtwapa under the County Government of Kilifi, and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kenya.

The project was officially opened by H.E. T.B.H. Witjaksono Adji, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Kenya, marking an important step towards advancing mangrove restoration, coastal resilience and climate action.

We also acknowledge the participation of H.E. Flora Mbetsa Chibule, Deputy Governor of Kilifi County, whose presence highlighted the importance of county leadership in protecting our coastal ecosystems.

We appreciate the support of Coastal Bottlers, Ngosummit Africa, Young Warriors Kenya, KALRO Mkulima, Kenya Forest Service, KFE Kenya, S.A.F.E. Kenya and Mombasa County, among other partners united by a shared commitment to environmental action.

From cleaning our environment to restoring the ecosystems that protect our coastline, every action matters. Mangroves support biodiversity, strengthen coastal resilience and sustain communities.

Mali Safi Starts Where We Live. 🏡♻️

On World Habitat Day, we’re reminded that the places we call home deserve care—from the spaces inside our houses to our streets, estates and communities.

It starts with the small things: separate your waste, keep them clean, use collection points and don’t let packaging waste find its way into our surroundings.

Because a healthier habitat isn’t created somewhere else. It starts where we live.

From the 2026 ASK Show to a second life. ♻️

At the recently concluded Nairobi International Trade Fair (ASK Show), PAKPRO, in collaboration with Walakolo Recyclers and Coca-Cola Beverages Africa - Kenya, supported the recovery of 1,300 kg of PET, cartons, paper and polythene—equivalent to 20 - one-tonne sacks of recovered material.

Collected through the buy-back centre at the ASK Show Grounds, these materials will re-enter the recovery and recycling value chain instead of ending up as litter.

This is what is possible when producers, recyclers, communities and consumers work together to keep packaging in circulation and create value from materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Now, it’s your turn. Don’t throw valuable materials away. Separate your waste, keep recyclable materials clean and dry for collection.

Every material recovered is one less item in our streets, waterways and environment—and one more resource back in the recycling value chain.

Let’s make recovery a habit, not an afterthought. ♻️
