For more than six decades, PROCMURA has worked alongside various stakeholders, including churches, religious leaders, women, youth, and communities across Africa, to promote constructive Christian–Muslim relations, peaceful coexistence, and sustainable development.

Yesterday, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, we reached an important milestone in that journey as we officially broke ground for our Berkeley Residency Apartments on our Rhapta Road property in Westlands, Nairobi.

The project forms part of PROCMURA's long-term financial sustainability strategy aimed at strengthening the organisation's capacity to continue serving communities across Africa. Once completed, the development is expected to contribute greatly to PROCMURA’s mission across the continent.

The groundbreaking ceremony brought together religious leaders who dedicated the project, partners, friends, and supporters who have walked with PROCMURA throughout this journey, as we gave thanks to God for bringing the vision to life.
What was once an idea on paper has actualised, and we give God all the glory!

We successfully concluded our three-day stakeholders' workshop, which brought together church leaders, theologians, scholars, and practitioners to reflect on a wide range of issues in Christian-Muslim relations in Africa that continue to shape Christian witness in today's religiously pluralistic landscape.

The workshop created space and a platform for deeper engagement on historical and theological foundations of Christian–Muslim relations, emerging trends in Africa, interreligious studies within Christian mission, peacebuilding, and practical strategies to strengthen peaceful coexistence among communities of different faiths across the continent.

At a time when many societies continue to grapple with religious tension, extremism, misinformation, and growing social fragmentation, the workshop reaffirmed the importance of informed leadership, especially within the church and theological institutions, constructive engagement, and sustained investment in building relationships rooted in mutual respect and understanding.

For more than 65 years, PROCMURA has remained committed to equipping churches, faith leaders, and communities across Africa with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate interreligious realities responsibly while promoting peace, good neighbourliness, and inclusive societies.

Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB) is not only a legal principle guaranteed in many legal instruments around the world. It is also a lived reality that shapes how communities worship, relate, disagree, and coexist.

PROCMURA held a webinar on the contextual challenges facing FoRB with a focus on East Africa, bringing together reflections on religious freedom, public responsibility, social cohesion, and the need to protect communities without weakening legitimate religious practice.

The General Adviser of PROCMURA, Bishop (Dr.) Nathan Samwini was among the keynote speakers, offering insight drawn from PROCMURA’s long engagement with Christian and Muslim communities across Africa.

At a time when several countries in the region are debating the role of the state, religious institutions, and communities in safeguarding public trust, the conversation called for careful, honest, and responsible engagement.

For PROCMURA, FoRB remains central to building peaceful societies where faith communities can practise freely, relate constructively, and work together for the common good.

The webinar was hosted from the PROCMURA Media Centre.
