African Boychild Network we have been firm on every concern that touches on kenyan citizens.
We submitted a memoranda on critical.issues on Sanitary pads and vocational training centre's in the County of Kiambu.
Yesterday, the African Boychild Network, successfully submitted two key memoranda to the County Assembly of Kiambu. These submissions include the Kiambu County Provision of Sanitary Towels Bill, 2025 and the Kiambu County Vocational Education and Training Institutions Bill, 2025.
In the memorandum on the Sanitary Towels Bill, ABNet commended the Assembly for advancing menstrual dignity, gender equity, and public health through reliable access to sanitary towels for girls and women. However, it highlighted the Bill's silence on the needs of boys and young men in shared spaces such as schools and public facilities. ABNet recommended extending provisions to include boys through hygiene education, awareness programs, and parallel support to foster mutual understanding, reduce stigma, eliminate taboos, and promote inclusive environments for all genders.
For the Vocational Education and Training Bill, ABNet emphasized the importance of equitable skills development and opportunities for boys and youth. Drawing from consultations with communities and stakeholders, the memorandum offered recommendations to strengthen governance, coordination, quality assurance, financing, accessibility, and alignment with local economic need particularly for vulnerable boys to enhance employability and societal inclusion.
These submissions align with ABNet's mission to address critical issues affecting the boy child through advocacy, civic engagement, and balanced gender policies. ABNet remains available for further clarifications or oral presentations before the relevant committees.
We appreciate the Kiambu County Assembly for facilitating meaningful public participation in shaping inclusive and sustainable legislation. Together, we can build a more equitable future for all young people in Kiambu County.
