Road to Freedom Scholarships vision is to educate and uplift children from Kibera slum, one of the largest slums in Africa. RFS is committed to providing children access to education, removing the child from the stresses and dangers of the abject poverty of the slum, while maintaining the child’s all-important family and sociocultural ties. RFS provides the child with a stress free, caring, and safe learning environment, using available local resources (Kenya’s renowned boarding schools) thus eliminating waste. We enroll them in a beautiful boarding school where we solve many problems at once, holistically. They receive more than an education; nutritious meals, clean water, a bed, medical care and safety from violence and sexual assault. Furthermore, RFS encourages these children to reach their full potential by providing opportunity and access. We instill values such as; honesty, integrity, respect for others, self worth, confidence, good work ethic and teach them if they dream big and work hard, they can achieve anything! We work to empower and inspire them so they are free to act on their own beliefs, advocate for themselves to become leaders of change in their communities.
