A race against time!

What should have been a 2 day journey took just 1 hour and 40 minutes

Baby Alisha Lemongi and her mother, Nairita Lemongi, needed to get from Sedar which is in the Northern part of Kenya to Nairobi urgently. MAF was able to fly them so that the baby could get help at Kijabe Hospital.

Doctors ran a full investigation, from urinalysis, blood tests and a chest X-ray and discovered that Alisha had been receiving the wrong medication.

Alisha is now on the correct treatment and an infection found during testing is also being managed. She is scheduled for a follow up flight back to Kijabe on the 11th of November.

ā€œThanks so much for helping her get down to Nairobi, it may have saved her life as we didnā€™t have another trip to Kijabe scheduled,ā€ said Mick Alley, the founder of Samburu Missions Kenya.

Two hours instead of 18!

That's the difference MAF made for teachers Ruth Wuerzle and Corinna Boecker on their journey from Nairobi to Illeret, carrying six bags of teaching materials for 20 mobile schoolteachers in isolated northern Kenya.

Together with Edwin Changamu and Everline Momanyi, they've built "ladders of learning": a system that lets children in the Illeret Nomadic Education System learn at their own pace, pause schooling, move between mobile schools, and pick up right where they left off.

"Thanks to MAF, we were able to travel for two hours instead of 18," said Ruth, who has now made 20 trips to Illeret with MAF since 2014.

Now 20 teachers are back in their mobile schools, equipped to teach basic mathematics to pastoralist children.

For pastoralist communities, livestock are more than animals. They are an important source of food, income and livelihood.

Veterinarians with a Mission Program team has been on the ground providing veterinary care to sheep, goats and camels, helping protect them from worms, malnutrition and other health challenges. So far, #2000 livestock have received treatment, including ivermectin and multivitamins to support their health and wellbeing.

Weā€™re grateful to our dedicated team, partners and to God for the opportunity to serve communities and support the pastoralists who depend on their livestock every day.

The road to Sopel isn't really a road, it's a suggestion cut into the cracked, drought-stricken land of Turkana County. So when a team of twelve veterinarians from Veterinarians with a Mission Programme needed to reach it, they didn't drive.

MAF flew them in, cutting an 18-hour journey down to just two hours, medicine, equipment and message all arriving together, and the team fresh enough to get straight to work. Over eight days, they treated a staggering 5,794 goats, sheep, and camels, often starting at 5:30am to beat the heat.

As pastor and pastoralist William Etiiton put it, "The reason why I've brought my animals again is because the other time they were treated, all my animals were healthy."

But the mission went far beyond livestock. Every evening, the community gathered for prayer and worship and by the end of the week, 77 people had given their lives to Christ, with 49 baptised. Two motorcycles were left behind for local pastors to reach scattered congregations and keep up veterinary follow-ups across the rough terrain. Sopel still needs clean water and a resident vet, but something has shifted: healthier herds, an open door for the team to return, and new believers ready to be discipled. This is what happens when flight meets faithfulness.
