FROM A STREET BOY TO THE UNIVERSITY
We started with a simple Bible study sessions every Sunday afternoon at the Westlands round about. A dream to go back to school and live a normal dignified life seemed far fetched. The boys had already made the NCBA bill board their home and all they believed was possible was to beg for food. Which they did for a long time.

They had one guaranteed hot meal for lunch from Odijo foundation through Clifford Oluoch, but they had a different quest ....

During the Bible study sessions which ideally was our Sunday church service, George Ochieng was always the praise and worship leader, he always said he missed going to a real church, he was Catholic and used to attend consolata church before the streets became his new life. His fear of going back to church is he was too dirty and believed he would scare guys at church and be thrown out. This was a common sentiment with the rest of the boys.

The boys had chances to read the Bible on their own both in Kiswahili and English and many of them were fairly fluent.

In their heart of hearts education was a dream they didn't think was valid or even possible, but they dreamed anyway.... A simple request from Franklin and Jose AKA Skele to be taken to school was their first leap of faith. The Worst I could say was no!, I can't afford to take you guys to school......but what if I said yes....?

I thought about it, prayed over that request and shared the story, just like the boys I also chose to ask for help and support, the worst that could happen was be told no, but what if people of good will say yes...? I took my leap of faith too ...
By God's grace and help from family and close friends and even strangers who heard about it, support came through, We received just enough funds to enrol the first 11 out of the 15 boys to pay school fees, another friend offered to buy uniforms for 5 boys which I had to go all the way to Thika town to collect them....
Went to kikomba market and bought nice second hand shoes for all of them, uniforms etc.
Through chief Evans of Westlands, he connected me to an Indian businessman Mr Shah, who bought all the kids enough books and other stationery to last us a full year, at Savannis bookshop,....
school, education was made possible....one day at a time with help here and there just enough to get boys going we still soldier on.....

Blessing and Frank sat their KCPE and emerged among the top three students at their school.... joined The Highway secondary and what a journey it was....I think I was one of the parents that visited the school most, especially because they were 5 in the same school at different levels, so I'd be called for one case after another. Both boys were appointed school prefects and it was such an honor to see them take up responsibilities.

And finally the 2025 KCSE results came out and the boys did very well and have made us proud and most importantly they made themselves proud.
FRANKLIN scored a C+
BLESSING scored B-.
Please join us in celebrating these boys. From being Street kids in Westlands and now gearing up to join the University! God is indeed faithful and may He receive all praise.

Thank you everyone that helps us make this journey possible. May you never lack....

FOUR YEARS LATER.....
With a heart full of gratitude, standing in awe at what God has done, God is indeed faithful.

Frank and Blessing in a few short days to come will be sitting their KCSE exams.
Four years ago we stood at the same sport joyful at the season the boys were entering, Highschool,... A four year journey that the school secretary gave me a new name "mama boys" sometimes when we were running short of school fees and as it's the norm the school would let the parents know the boys will be sent home, aAggie the school secretary would let me know in advance so I could organise funds and see to it the boys don't make that trip home in the middle of the term.
Boys being boys and sometimes just wanting an extra day at home would quickly leave school before I can send the funds to the school. I guess a break from school food to hopefully have chapatti at home.
One day I will understand the science behind the love of chapatti....

As we made reflections of the past four years, education and academic successes and challenges, the drama, being called at school for cases or holiday assignments that were incomplete, when the boys would fall sick and I had to go pick them up for hospital visits, academic clinics,,jokes about fellow students and teachers, on their journey they lost a classmate and had to attend the funeral service, school trips and much more, we have indeed seen the hand of God.

Frank in his Thanksgiving speech He said Teacher as they fondly call me...I am a success. Yes we are about to sit our second National exam and I look at myself as a success. Even as he is trusting God for good grades in his heart he is already a Victor. Coming from the streets and accepting the help, and being willing to turn around their life from the streets and the streets mindset to being completely rehabilitated, he says it's his major success. He has finished the race while others quit along the way.

Blessing has been the class prefect and looking back from where he came from the streets to serving his class and indeed nrhe school a prefect is an honour that he doesn't take for granted he said.
"Tumetoka mbali" (we have come from far)....and for a minute or two they were both pensive, deep in thought and then with a smile said "thank you for taking us in, and walking this journey with us. To all the people of good will that have held your hand and you hold ours we are forever grateful"

On our last visit before they sit their exams soon, we shared special moments with all the four, Frank Blessing in form four, Raphael and Omega in form two. Took the same Photos at the same spot four years ago with my dear son Sayankah, an alumni of Highway secondary, and Clifford Oluoch a man the boys looked up to when they were in the streets durit the feeding program he ran, a mentor they can freely express themselves to and fondly call him Odijo. To have him share their season four last episode was an honor. A word of wisdom shared not only to our sons but their classmates as well.
To all of you who have journeyed with us, supported us, in every and any way from financial encouragement, mentors donations and much more, Asanteni. The journey continues...
To God Almighty....may His name be praised, receive all the glory and adoration. Thank you for finding us a vessel of honour you could use in service and worship to you, to serve your purpose and be a blessing to these children. We are honoured to serve humanity.
Be blessed.
Yours faithfully
Aggie Aloo

Dreams are the seeds of reality, plant them with integrity, nature them with dedication and watch then flourish,..

Life's challenges are not obstacles, they are invitations to discover the strength within you.

Through the partnership of Wamiel foundation and Odijo foundation, we thought to plant seeds of effort that would blossom into fields of success for these children from the slums and former street boys. We taught them how to cultivate their dreams with determination, diligence and discipline.
A positive mindset of success that will be the force which will help them take on life's challenges inspite of their backgrounds or current life of living in the slums or being a rescued child from the streets.

Job shadowing is real time experience of a glimpse of what is possible for them in the future and a guide to their career choices.
It's also a great opportunity for companies and organisations to give back to the society by giving our children a chance to learn from them and impacting them positively.

We are deeply grateful to Moveenpick Hotel and Jalaram hospital for being the first team that opened their doors to us.
We are looking forward to partnering with your company and institutions over the next school holidays.
Are you a lawyer.? There's a kid who wants to be just like you! will you let him or her shadow you? Engineer, doctor, cashier, hotelier and any other profession.
We invite you to partner with us.

THE GUARD AND THE FORMER STREEBOY REUNION

Job shadowing chronicles continues....
My son. Frank and three others were placed at the Jalaram hospital for the job shadowing program. Mr.Clifford,George Adede and myself would make a random visit and check on how the youth are fairing and getting feedback from their mentors at the institutions.

On the last day at the hospital, Jojie and I went to sign out for the students and break word with the nurse in charge. It was such a pleasing report to learn how obedient and disciplined the kids were. Frank in particular seemed to have been the favorite. Nurse Judy, who was in charge of the team said everyone wanted Frank to be in their department when being rotated to different sections of the hospital. Simply because he showed more commitment, went an extra mile to learn and help out, never missed a day etc.

I proudly said that's my son and she said you have done well by him...which mother or guardian wouldn't want to hear that about their children!!

On our way out the guard at the hospital gate stopped us and told me "thank you for taking the boy out of the streets. We knew each other other during the time he was a street boy" He was surprised to see him working at the hospital as a job shadowing student. He went ahead to tell me how Frank used to tell him he desired to leave the streets and go back to school given a chance....
The guard was so happy to see Frank all grown and super tall, clean and out of the streets. To learn he was in school made the old man very happy. He promised Frank a success card ahead of his form four National exam KCSE, he will be sitting for this term. Wished him well and reminded him to keep on the great path he is now on......

To everyone who supports this initiative, just know it's not in vain. The impact is great and the transformation is real.
Its not a walk in the park taking genuine care of these children yet it's the most fulfilling experience God has blessed us to have.
Keep giving, open your doors hearts and wallets too 😉.

School fees and other basic needs can only be made possible to provide when we give and help keep their dream alive and we live to witness the fruits of our labor of love, one transformation at a time.
We rise by lifting others....

JOB SHADOWING ....
A promise of youth empowerment, exposure to what is possible and a glimpse of what the real career world looks like. An experience of the market place for our former street kids and the teens of Deepsea Slum that will impact their journey of life after high school in choosing what to study in college and career choices.

For a few years now Mr. Clifford Oluoch, of Odijo Foundation, Aggie Aloo and George Adede of Wa Miel Foundation have sought and desired to impact the teens of the Deepsea slums and get them to experience the job market. Keep the positively busy during school holidays with a different learning experience at different available careers.

This year the two foundations joined hands to partner and worked out a program for the highschool students of Deepsea with the intention of growing this program to be experienced every school holidays by as many highschool students as we can help.

For the past two weeks we have witnessed the joy in the young peoples faces and excitement of entering this work places that we found opportunity for the first 10. Jalaram hospital and The moveenpick hotel westlands.

Janet in form two, said the nicest place she has ever been to is the food court at Sarit center Mall, her favourite food is Shawarma....
Samantha aspires to be a doctor or nurse, Jalaram hospital opened it's doors to us for her to learn from a real doctor and nurse what it's all about. The father is more than glad to see his daughter experience this opportunity.

Omega stood in awe as his dream of getting inside the hotel unfolded before us. He was a street boy who promised himself that one day he shall enter the Hotel and enjoy a meal. Back then he used to hang around the Roundabout near the hotel. He aspires to be a Chef. This dream is made possible by this program and partnerships with various organizations. The smile on his face on the first day was priceless. He is a former street child who had a dream that one day I will enter this big Hotel....it happened!

As they go back to school next week, I bet the next English composition of your school holiday will be a total different narrative.....

More stories and updates on this coming.... stay tuned...

CLAP BOOM CATCH!
week three starts with freezing cold weather on monday.so cold it felt unreal, and for the kijabe, limuru kimende residents more grace to you.

Every school holidays we hold kids and teens camp for the children of Deepsea slums. We learn about God, play fun games, sing and dance, watch movies and enjoy sumptuous meals prepared by Omega and other volunteers.

Having kids of different ages from as young as two to twenty two we get to experience fun at every age. One of the indoor games was clap, boom, catch
2 year old Calvin, popularly known as "Kalivo" was not to be left behind, problem is he is not fast enough to catch the pen before his opponent does, often resulting in a seriously loud cry, the whole class pauses to console him.

"Amechukua kalamu yangu"( he has taken my pen!" so for peace sake, yours truly would pick the pen and just hand it over to him and he would suddenly be among the winning team showing off his pen, you'd think it was a game between Kenya and Morocco he was playing and won! The tears turn into an immediate joy and laughter and so do the rest of his age mates in his kind of dilemma.

At the end of the day it's all worth the time I get to spend with these little angels.
As we look forward to school resuming for the last semester of this year, for public schools, am deeply grateful for the support of the lions club of Huru and Mr. Hiren Vaya for his unwavering support and ensuring kids are fed, Jack for always delivering the food donations in good time.

To the Deepsea parents for allowing your kids to attend and entrusting them to us, the volunteers that keep the programs running, kids are served, taught etc. Raphael Peter, Esther, mama Kalivo, Omega, Diana, Pauline, Kafoi and others thank you so much.

Together we impact our community and make a positive difference in the lives of the younger generation.

On behalf of Wa Miel foundation, Asanteni sana.

WE RISE BY LIFTING OTHERS..
Be blessed.
