The Eco-Schools program aims at achieving Sustainable Environmental Management at the local level through schools a

s springboards for reaching communities. The program has worked with many partners including the Danish Outdoor Council, BP & shell, and ANTAISSCE to address poverty and environmental challenges.

* KOEE Coordinates and facilitates Eco-schools Program in Kenya, with activities such as training of teachers, awareness raising and educational material development.

* Demonstration Eco-Schools have been set up in different counties in the country. Micro-projects in different thematic areas are implemented in schools, addressing local environmental challenges. The micro-projects are also used for out-of-classroom curricula teaching and cooperation with local community.

* Around demonstrations schools, local community groups have been mobilized to support the school micro project through donations, offering expert advice & acting as caretakers of micro-projects during holidays and working for free or at minimal charges.

* In close cooperation with the teachers and the key governmental institutions the program has developed the first ever Kenyan environmental education materials that comply with the Curriculum requirements to treat environment as a cross curricula subject. Thus, 6 environmental theme-packs for Primary schools and 6 for Secondary schools have been produced and made available to schools.

* Materials have been acknowledged by relevant authorities in the Kenyan Educational sector. No matter the kind, size or location of your school, Eco School can help you make a difference!
