Today, the Mombasa Community Power Voices hosted a Town Hall at the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic bringing together diverse stakeholders to discuss the integration of HIV service delivery and the future of a more sustainable, people-centred HIV response in Mombasa County.

The dialogue brought together Recipients of Care (ROCs), youth and religious leaders, implementing partners, healthcare stakeholders and members of the 4th Estate, alongside representatives from the County Department of Health, Mombasa; Sub-County AIDS and STI Coordinators (SCASCOS) from Changamwe, Jomvu and Likoni; and partner organizations including NEPHAK, Stawisha Pwani, and the AHF Coast team and Country Program Director.

The discussions centred on strengthening partnerships and ensuring that HIV services remain accessible, integrated, sustainable and responsive to the needs of communities.

Key Action Points from the town hall were;
✅ Integrate the county HIV commodity supply chain to ensure consistent availability of ARVs and other essential commodities.
✅ Strengthen training of healthcare workers on the comprehensive management of people living with HIV.
✅ Ensure meaningful inclusion of Recipients of Care (ROCs) in the HIV integration committee.
✅ Adopt the hub-and-spoke model to help reduce workload at health facilities.
✅ Scale up Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) models to reduce congestion and make HIV services more accessible and convenient.

HIV is not the death sentence it once was. With consistent access to treatment, people living with HIV can live long, full lives – raising families, building careers and planning for the future.

But that promise only holds if treatment reaches everyone who needs it. Right now, gaps in testing and treatment coverage mean too many people are still being left behind.

Governments and health systems must prioritize HIV testing and treatment coverage in national health policy and budgets because access to treatment is access to life.

TREATMENT = LIFE. Let's make sure everyone gets the chance to live theirs.
