🌸 Happy Mother’s Day from Peace Tree Network 🌸

Today, we celebrate the women whose love nurtures peace, whose strength builds families, and whose courage transforms communities.

Mothers are the heartbeat of hope — teaching compassion, resilience, and unity across generations.

As we honor mothers around the world, we reaffirm our commitment to creating peaceful, empowered, and connected communities for every child and family.

💚 Strong Mothers. Strong Families. Stronger Communities.

📖 A Celebration of the Power of Books
Books don’t just tell stories—they document realities and drive advocacy. On World Book and Copyright Day, Peace Tree Network celebrates the power of publications to transform lived experiences into evidence, and evidence into reform.

Our latest release, Human Rights Advocacy Against Police Brutality: Assessing the Use and Impact of Unarmed Civilian Protection Strategies, captures grassroots voices and turns them into strategies for justice—transforming pain into purpose and research into action.

✨ Our Thematic Areas: Building Peace Together ✨
At Peace Tree Network, we believe lasting peace comes from strong foundations. Our work spans:

🌱 Active Non-Violence – partnering with local and religious leaders to prevent extremism and address root causes of conflict.

🗳️ Promoting Democratic Governance – empowering communities to hold leaders accountable and participate in decision-making.

👩‍👩‍👧 Gender & Development – creating inclusive spaces for women and youth to lead change.

📚 Human Rights Education – equipping communities with knowledge to defend their rights.

📊 Research & Advocacy – lobbying for policies that strengthen peace, justice, and governance.

Together, these areas shape resilient communities across Kenya. 💪🌍

At Peace Tree Network (PTN), we believe that conflict, when addressed constructively, can become a pathway to stronger, more resilient communities. We work at the heart of communities to prevent violence, transform conflict, and build lasting social cohesion…. MORE

🌿 Good Friday Reflections 🌿

On this sacred day, we pause to honor the ultimate sacrifice of love, humility, and redemption. Good Friday reminds us that even in moments of pain and silence, hope is being renewed.

At Peace Tree Network, we draw inspiration from this message of compassion and resilience. Just as the cross symbolizes endurance and faith, we remain committed to amplifying voices, nurturing peace, and building communities rooted in justice and dignity.

🙏 May this Good Friday strengthen our resolve to walk together in empathy, forgiveness, and unity.

📢 Celebrating Women’s Month & International Poetry Day 🌍

Practiced throughout history – in every culture and on every continent – poetry speaks to our common humanity and shared values. It transforms the simplest of words into a powerful catalyst for dialogue and peace. ✨

This March, as we celebrate Women’s Month and honor Mother’s Day, Peace Tree Network pays tribute to the strength of single mothers. 💐

A young lady reflects on her late single mum — 20 years of trials, tribulations, and wins — and how that journey shaped her into the strong, independent woman she is today.

To mark International Poetry Day (21st March), we showcase the voice of our partner Anika Initiative, through Spontaneous Rays powerful poetry. 🎤 Her words remind us that art is not just expression — it is healing, advocacy, and a call to justice.

🎤 Experience the performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGqBAP5LT7k&list=RDnGqBAP5LT7k&start_radio=1

🌱 With partnership with Anika, we continue to amplify creative voices that inspire resilience and build inclusive futures. 🌱

🌸 Throwback | The SHE Circle 🌸

We reflect on the inspiring keynote address by Hon. Hope Mwaura, MCA – Lamu, during The SHE Circle.

“When women lead, communities thrive. Your presence here signals a new generation ready to claim its rightful place in shaping Kenya’s future.”

Her words remind us that democracy is strongest when it is inclusive, and that mentorship, dialogue, and solidarity are the tools that dismantle barriers for young women in leadership.

At Peace Tree Network, we continue to empower women across Kwale County through leadership training, economic empowerment, gender sensitization, media advocacy, and community dialogues. This work has been made possible through the support of the Zivik funding program, whose commitment to strengthening women’s leadership has opened doors for many young women to step into political spaces with confidence.

✨ To every young woman: step forward, claim your space, and lead with courage. Political leadership is not reserved for a few — it is your right, your responsibility, and your opportunity to shape a more inclusive Kenya.

Together, with partners like Zivik Funding Programme , we are building circles of empowerment across our nation — because when women rise, democracy thrives.

🌍 Before & After: Transforming Leadership in Kwale 🌍

✨ Before:
In Kwale County, many women faced challenges stepping into leadership. Cultural expectations, limited resources, and concerns about safety often made political spaces feel out of reach.

🌱 After:
Last year, through our 2 Legal Awareness Workshops, the story began to shift.
40 participants—young women, student leaders, and administrators—gained confidence, practical legal tools, and strategies to navigate these spaces with strength and clarity.

👉 “I now know Article 27 protects my right to equality, and I can use it to advocate for women in my community.” – Lina Mulungo

💡 Impact:
40 empowered leaders.
40 voices rising.
40 communities now touched by the ripple of legal awareness and justice.

📸 Swipe through the photos to see the faces of change — from group discussions, solidarity moments, to collective action for women’s rights.
