Unpaid Care Work = KSh 2.54 Trillion yearly.
It’s time to value it.
In Kenya, women spend over 3 extra hours every day on unpaid care—cooking, cleaning, and looking after children—compared to men. This time poverty is the biggest barrier to women’s economic freedom.
At WAF-Kenya, we are changing the narrative.
We believe childcare is the missing infrastructure for opportunity. By establishing safe, affordable childcare hubs in low-income communities, we:
Unlock Time: Freeing women to learn, earn, and lead.
Equip Women: Providing training in market-driven skills.
Activate Dreams: Linking women to seed capital and markets to launch businesses.
When childcare is available, women rise and children thrive. Join us in making care work a force for progress.

Some days, our work starts on a bike 🚲—muddy roads, long journeys, real conversations.
From that first visit, to setting up childcare, to learning new skills,to building an income‑generating activity step by step.
This is the part you don’t always see.The journey from time poverty to possibility.Change doesn’t arrive overnight. It’s built — carefully, consistently, together.
This is how we do the work at WAFKenya.

Every single day, childhoods are stolen - and futures are interrupted.
Let this sink in.
For thousands of girls and young women, vulnerability is not just a risk but a daily reality . When they lack comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) knowledge, economic independence, or a safe place to be, their risk of experiencing violence and exploitation rises. This should not be normal: As we mark the , we cannot stay silent because the fight to cannot be separated from the fight for economic agency.
This is a national crisis . Let's make protection non-negotiable by investing in solutions that build resilience, health, and economic independence of every woman and girl.

Day 2 of . The statistics says it all : 1.8 billion women and girls have no legal protection from digital violence. This gap is a deep threat to women’s economic agency .
When women entrepreneurs and advocates are driven offline because of harrasement and abuse , they are silenced , isolated and lose access to vital information and opportunities.
Let’s not just condemn the act ; let’s invest in the systems that give women the power to stay online , stay safe and stay in business. .

When women are denied health autonomy, time and income their vulnerability to all forms of violence increases . We against all forms of violence recognising that Safety is not a priviledge. Its a human right.

Meet Yvonne, a rising star from our vocational training group in electrical installation and wiring . After the passing of her father, Yvone experienced difficulty in surviving with her family stuck in small-scale farming and charcoal burning. The lack of reliable, sustained income made access to education and basic health needs-like menstrual materials, a daily struggle. Through the WAFKenya vocational track, she acquired skills in a high-demand trade. With these skills, she is currently working in a shop, earning some income to support herself with confidence, ready to upskill herself in the field.
When young women like Yvone have opportunities, they build lives of dignity, hope, and possibility.
