We are demanding an independent investigation into the Utumishi Girls Academy fire, which claimed 16 lives.

Education CS Migos Ogamba had one duty: to protect our children in schools. He has failed after the Utumishi Girls Academy fire claimed 16 lives. Ogamba must be shown the door.

The Utumishi Girls Academy fire that claimed 16 lives is one of many school fires that have occurred in Kenya, leaving behind death, trauma, and unanswered questions. Time and again, regimes have reacted only after tragedy strikes, yet done little to prevent these foreseeable and preventable disaster.

Today, the anti-corruption court allowed the withdrawal of the Sh73.4 million graft case facing former Migori governor Okoth Obado and his children.
We are concerned and strongly question the precedent being set, in which individuals accused of plundering public resources are effectively allowed to negotiate their way out of full criminal accountability.

Samia Suluhu, referring to the use of “mikwaju”, advised William Ruto to crack down on critics.

Leading up to, during and after the sham elections in Tanzania in 2025, “mikwaju” came as arbitrary detentions, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and brutal torture of thousands of people.

Now, Kenyans are being told that the same tactics that led to mass murder in Tanzania are acceptable and should be adopted here. They are not.

We will not allow a repeat of Tanzania’s 2025 massacre on Kenyan soil. Not by decree, not by force.

We demand that Suluhu and Ruto publicly apologise, retract their statements, and guarantee non-repetition of their utterances and acts that advocated the mass murder of innocent civilians.

KHRC and Okoa Uchumi are demanding that the National Assembly call for public disclosure and scrutiny of the IMF’s Governance and Corruption Diagnostic Report for Kenya. The report, commissioned by the Kenyan government and conducted by the IMF, assessed systemic governance weaknesses, corruption vulnerabilities, and institutional gaps affecting the management of public resources.
Even though the report was completed and handed to the government, it has not been made public. We insist that withholding the report undermines transparency and accountability. As such, we demand that the National Assembly ensure the report is published within 30 days, unredacted.
